On tap at the brewery, Durham. Seems to be a bit of a local craze in Durham to spoil otherwise perfectly acceptable pales with fresh chiles. Put that shit in a stout and call it a day! Seriously, beer looked handsome enough and the nose was mostly leafy hops. But the taste was just ferociously overdone. I heart peppers and I heart beer but this sucked. Draft at brewery. Looks the part of a pale ale, somewhat cloudy. Nose is a hard to define herbal aroma with some hopping. For the first few sips, it came across with a lot of root vegetables and a warm hop finish. Then as the glass warmed and I had more of it, the peppers started taking too much of an unwelcome lead. It gave me some heartburn. If I’d stopped with a tiny sample, I’d have liked it. Oh well. DiarmaidBHK (5373) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 12, 2012
Draft at brewpub. Pours golden with an inch of white foam that leaves no lacing. Nice roasted pepper notes on the tongue which become a bit spicier and insistent on the finish. Very nice! emacgee (4697) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - SEP 7, 2012
clean soft golden yellow pour with one finger. Very/spicy peppery aroma. Tons of capsciacin. Can’t smell anthing else. God I hate peppers. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - AUG 31, 2012
Tap at Bcbb with j and friends. Wow this shit is gross. Peppers are a
Little too present (not heat-wise but they they totally overpower the hops) and makes this more of a pepper beer than any kind of pale ale.
