Taps opaque coffee brown with a thick light tan head. Aroma features roast malt, coffee and toffee tones. Flavor echoes the aroma, rather stouty and mouth-filling. Mouthfeel offers good body for a porter and peppy fizz. Pro bono brewico. jtclockwork (16951) - , New Jersey, USA - OCT 14, 2015
Draft - pours dark brown - tan head - nose/taste of coffee, milk sugar, cocoa - light/med body Bacterial (3027) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - APR 5, 2014
Tap at Bull City. Dark, nice in that it was not served too cold. Nice lacing. Chocolate roast taste and nose. Slightly sweet. Nice. beernovice39 (3270) - Idaho, USA - SEP 6, 2012
On tap at brewer. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Scent is roasty, with coffee. Taste is dark bitter chocolate and roasty. Thin emacgee (4698) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - JUL 6, 2012
Pours a dark garnet brown with a creamy tan head. Nose shows a light coffee-like roast with some grain husk notes. Some bitter chocolate and dark grain character. Light roast and hull character in the flavor, coffee-ish. Very mild and light porter. Dry and light bodied.

Nitro tap, which they seem to have discontinued. Decent enough carbonation with one-finger light tan head atop a dark brown body. Nose is roasty grain with some sweet chocolate and mild coffee. Tastes and feels thin, but not a bad beer for my burger by any means. JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUN 12, 2011
On tap at the brewery. I had this when it was a nitro pour but even so it wasn’t an especially thick consistency. Dark brown pour with a minimal head that is a bit disappointing. Moderately roasty nose with a bit of chocolate in there too. Body is, as expected, on the weak side and the finish a bit watery. Flavors are competent rendered and more or less to style, but overall not so impressive from the new kid in town. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUN 11, 2011
Tap at brewery. Brown with a reddish hue, little to no head. Light roast, coffee, a bit of lactic sourness and metal. Lightly roasty, sort of reminds me of the bitter with a tiny bit more roast. Pretty meh. DukeBrewDevil (732) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - MAY 16, 2011
Draft at brewery. Light tan head on a black, partially translucent brew. Solid aroma of charcoal and dark chocolate. It has a sweet base flavor and a roasty finish. The mouthfeel was quite smooth and soft. I would have guessed this was a sweet stout, not a porter, but either way, it’s a well made brew.
