This draft brew from the brewery poured a head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The aroma was smoky and burnt malt. The semi-thick mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish mild roasted malt aftertaste. The good flavor contained notes of roasted malt and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again. JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - FEB 4, 2012
On tap at the brewpub, Durham. Handsome looking pour, with a nice mellow nose. But even on nitro this one could use a bigger body. Still a nice and roasty brew and hits all the right marks, but I wish I coulda had the coffee/chili version, which had just kicked. Pours dark brown and sits almost black. Head is one finger thick and tan. Roasty nose with some cacao and coffee beans. A light chocolaty sweetness comes through. Fairly dry for an oatmeal stout, roasty with herbal hop character. Medium body. baraciisch (3165) - California, USA - NOV 26, 2011

Draft at BCBB. Pours dark brown with thin beige head. Nose of sweet chocolate, roast, sweet coffee, and some grain. Sweet, easy and light.

Nitro at the brewpub. Doesn’t look much like a nitro pour but the bartender assured me it was. Aroma is pretty non-existant, maybe some faint roasted malt but thats a stretch. Growler. I popped open the growler open a day and a half after getting it filled at the brewery, and it poured totally still. Oh well, it still smelled and tasted delightful, and there was a decent bit of carbonation in the mouthfeel. Nose is sweet chocolate malt. The flavor leads with a touch of chocolate, then a clean, creamy coffee profile. Even with the lack of carbonation, the palate finishes quite nicely with a very soft feel. I’d like to try this one again with a fresher pour.
