On draught at the Bull Falls brewery tap room in Wausau, Wisconsin. Pours an opaque dark brown colored brew with a creamy tan head that slowly dissipates to a light film top and spotty lacing. Aroma of toasted dark chocolate malt, a hint of soy, light bourbon, some dark chocolate and light coffee. Flavor has more bourbon presence than in aroma, other flavors of toasted dark malt a hint of chocolate and light soy. Finish is semi-sweet with a lingering bourbon and Baker chocolate aftertaste. Nice to finally locate this one after chasing it down for two years.

Base Stout was good here however the whiskey flavor comes through as purely charred wood with no finesse to it whatsoever. Nice color but missing out on the bottom line. This one wasn’t for me.

Had high hopes for this. Very mild multi barely noticeable roasty aroma. Flavors dark malt and again barely noticeable roast. Bourbon comes through in the Finish.. body is a little on the thin side. I wouldn’t get another one of these.

Pours an opaque brown color with khaki colored head. Soft nose on this, but there is definitely barrel character, oak, vanilla, whiskey, along with the usual chocolate of and oatmeal stout; follows onto the palate. Full bodied, very smooth, easy drinking. Finishes with light barrel character and some nice sweet chocolate.

Tap at Badger State. Black. Nose of soy, light smokey roast, chocolate and light oaky bourbon. Flavor is better with chocolate, light dry oak, bourbon, faint coconut and roast. Lingering chocolate, booze and roast.

Tap at Old Crow poured pitch back with a thick off-white head and nice lacing. Aromas of cocoa, caramel, chocolate malts, and bourbon. Flavor is medium bitter. Tasty.

Can. Very dark cola pour with a large initial head that fades fast. The whiskey on aroma seems a little hot and cheap. Taste is okay with more cheap whiskey. Can was oddly soft a couple weeks ago and oddly hard today - not a dick joke, I think there was some chemistry going on in this can. Mildly drinkable.

473ml can. Aged in JD barrels but actually this is nice. It is a dry and roasty BB stout this time instead of the typical diabetes run. It has some nice charred woody notes, not too much bourbon and a smooth and dry base brew.

16 ounce can. Poured with thin medium black with a small fast dissipating head. Sweet cocoa aroma. Smooth velvety mouthfeel. Nice chocolate taste with hints of bourbon. Good easy drinking bourbon barrel beer.
