Sampled at Brew fest. Notes of caramel, vanilla, wood, earth and fruit. Really tasty, moderate booze finish. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 3, 2011
On tap, Bullfrog Halloween dinner. Pours a dark amber body with a large frothy off-white head with great retention. The nose is huge and thick with heavy caramel malt and some moderate bourbon. Some burnt toffee and moderate alcohol. The flavor is just as big and sweet, really well balanced between the barrel and the beer, nice bourbon level, sweet, but not overly so. Nice vanilla and oaky notes and a touch of alcohol heat on the finish. Mouthfeel is full and a little sticky with fizzy carbonation. A touch of brown sugar clinginess on the finish. Pretty nice beer. Opaque tan color, thin yellow-white head. Bourbon, bit of tobacco and caramel, strong cookie dough component, also a strong brown sugar. Very balanced, very malt heavy, similar to Thomas hardy with a few years of age.
