Ridiculously awesome bottle share at RBSG. Pours black. Tan head. Nose/taste of tons and tons of black cherries, bitter chocolate, dark cocoa and tannins. Light tartness. Low acidity. Full mouth feel.

A: The pour is very dark brown, nearly black with a nice brown head. S: Plenty of cherries and a mild vinegar note, but good sourness all around. There is also a good chocolate character that you don’t often find in these types of beers. T: The cherries have a nice sweet and sour note to them which balances nicely with the chocolate and roasted flavors of the beer underneath. The flavor is surprisingly vinous in the sense that it is comparable to a big red wine. M: The mouthfeel is really one of the more impressive aspects of this beer. A full, creamy, rich body that you don’t expect from a sour beer. D: This beer actually lives up to the talk. A very nice beer that I am pleased to have been able to try.

750ml bottle. This one opened to a very loud pop and I was expecting it to gush, but thankfully, it didn’t. Poured a dark black color with a large sized borwn head. Aromas of black cherries, wood, chocolate, a little earthy, and a little funky. Tastes of tart cherries, roast, chocolate, wood (although lighter than the aromas), and some funkiness. Nice sour and tart finish. This was aged in bourbon barrels; I got the woodiness but I didn’t get any bourbon in either the aromas or tastes. This one was very nice!

One of the many bottles of Bullfrog that Kramer brought to BCTC. Pours a dark black with a medium tan head. Light fruit, roast, and some funk to it. Quite intriguing and complex aromas. The interplay of roast bitterness, sour cherries, and overall tartness in very neat. Finishes off with more nice roast bitterness. Glad I got to try this one.

Bottle… Tour of Power Sour Hour 2011This beer rocks!… Pours dark brown with a small, beige head. Good retention. The earthy, fruity bouquet provides notes of leather, dark chocolate and dark cherries. Medium-bodied with a raspy mouthfeel and tickling carbonation. The flavor is very tart and offers cocoa and fruity dark cherries. Finishes tangy and modestly bitter Thanks goes out to Maltzilla for sharing this rarity!

Another crazy rare beer at Diegos. Black pour, brown head. Really a cool beer. Aromas are very tart black cherries, very bitter chocolate, some molasses and light vanilla tones. Flavor is much the same. Sour black cherries, prunes, molasses, raisins, bitter chocolate. Coats the mouth wonderfully. What a great brew.

Bottle from PUB’N via trade. Pours deep black with 1-finger dark brown head and great lacing. Nose is very tart, with heavy black cherry, dark malt, sour masjy dark fruit, cacao, and yeast. The nose is a lot like JP madragura Oscura. Tastes very tart, with heavy black cherry, dark malt, cacao, fig, molasses, and oaky notes. Rich, fairly complex palate.
