On tap at Mike’s place. Thanks man!
Bullfrog Double Coffee Stout has a perfect appearance. The beer is jet black, completely opaque. An inch of thick, beige head lingers for several minutes and leaves ample lacing all over the glass.
The aroma brings a massive shot of fresh coffee. Other scents become an afterthought next to this dominating espresso fragrance. Very enticing.
The flavor is no surprise, as the beer is very coffee forward. Absolutely delicious. The beer is very well balanced and is dangerously easy to drink. Roast emerges more so in the flavor than in the nose. Alcohol content is masked extremely well.
The feel is creamy and this stout goes down effortlessly. I really enjoyed this brew and would relish the opportunity to have it again.

Thank you Thorpe. Enjoyed this beer. Thinner pour than I expected, almost no head. GF and I enjoyed the taste of roasty coffee malt and light coco flavor. Great nose, had fun sniffing it for a solid 30 seconds after opening the bottle. Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 4, 2011
This poured a darker brown color with a lighter tan head. Aroma was lots of dark roasted coffee and cappucino too. Flavor was much like the aroma but stronger, lots and lots of coffee but not eoverly roasted, burnt or bitter. Extremely smooth and one of the best coffee stouts ive ever had. chibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 31, 2011
Bottle thanks to Thorpe... Dark brown body with tons of carbonation. A great medium mocha head, good retention and lacing... The aroma is great, coffee that is so fresh you get hints of grass, coffee beans, roast and hint of pepper... The freshness on the nose doesn’t come through as much, seems like its a bit older. The pepper notes are gone, mostly left with the coffee. The coffee is a touch sweet, could use a bit more roast. bigrond (1499) - factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 28, 2011
Pint at the brewery. When the beer was sevred there were ubbles on the top on the glass. I had never seen this before and it was not very appealing. Made me think there was soap in the glass. After they (the bubbles) disapated, I took a sip. It was very good. The flavor was out of this world and the mouthfeel was superb.

On tap, pours a nice black with medium tan head. Aroma is roasty coffee, chocolate and some caramel. Taste is smokey sweet with some coffee bitters. Very easy to drink and the alcohol is hidden well. ljay6880 (475) - , Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 14, 2011
5oz sample from a flight. Pour is black with a ruby shimmer when held to the light; it features an inch of beige head that dissipated quickly leaving little to show behind. Nose is big, big espresso to the point of opening a fresh can of coffee; subtle notes of vanilla and malt also linger under the coffee wallop. Taste is like drinking a 50 degree glass of espresso with a vanilla flavor shot lingering in the background; the roasted malt makes its presence known as soon as the coffee fades a bit. This addition comprises a pleasant blend once the finish sets. This is very tasty, and one of the best coffee stouts I’ve had. There are a few that have trumped this brew, but none where coffee has been the feature. Get some of this before its gone!! dfox670 (75) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 14, 2011
5oz glass at the brewery pour was black with little head or lacing. Nose was overwhelming coffee and malts taste was coffee, espresso, vanilla definitely on of the better coffee stouts I have had. wcampbell (721) - Clemson, South Carolina, USA - JAN 6, 2011
Incredible beer. The most full bodied and creamy stout I have had. Very smooth beer with light carbonation. Sweet initial flavor with a lingering lightly dry finish. Coffee and roasted chocolate flavor. Highly drinkable. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - NOV 30, 2010
On tap at Bullfrog in January 2009 and on tap many more times via the home kegerator--this beer is so good my wife and I spontaneously decided to buy a keg of it whilst we wait for our Nugget Nectar keg.
A: Pours a deep black with a massive mocha head with plenty of lacing and legs as the beer trails down the glass.
S: Bold, roasted coffee--probably the coffee stout nearest to pure coffee beans that I have encountered. Lots of roasted malt and hints of deep, dark chocolate also come through, but the coffee really shines.
T: Very similar to the smell, with the coffee completely dominating, with a bit of extra chocolate coming through as my palate gets used to the coffee.
M: Absolutely beautiful. A medium-to-heavy body with an absolutely lush mouthfeel--almost reminds me somewhat of a milk stout with the creaminess that it has. No alcohol presence detected.
D: Superb. With FBS, I feel that one bottle is usually enough. This is a beer I’ve had again and again, night after night. My concern is not that I’ll get sick of it, but that I won’t be able to grab another keg of it ASAP once this one runs out.
