Growler. Pours a clear dark gold body with a small wispy white head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is heavy sweet malt with some fruitiness from the Belgian yeast. A fairly hefty alcohol note along with lots of candi sugar. The flavor is really super sweet with lots of sticky pale malt and tons of residual candi sugar. The alcohol is pretty prominent here as well. Reminds me a bit of Duvel, but even heavier and stickier. Thick and full bodied with a sticky and chewy texture. Warming finish. Can’t say I can get into this one too much, it’s just too sweet and heavy for me. FROTHINGSLOSH (7929) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 11, 2013
Easily the best beer of the day. +++ Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a bright golden color with a medium sized soapy white head that faded and left minimal lacing. The aroma was tangy and sweet sugar and mixed golden fruits. The flavor was sweet and tangy candied plums and pears with some pineapple and yeastiness underneath. Long tangy and sweet finish with lingering candied golden fruits. Moderately full bodied and the alcohol was amazingly well hidden. Marvelous!! Draft at brewpub. Pours golden with a thin white head that doesn’t leave any lacing. Candi sugar and yeast notes on the nose. Slight fruitiness on the tongue and sweetness as well. Hides its alcohol very well. Clean finish. Solid! Beerathon (1683) - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 29, 2013
Advertised as 11%, but damn it’s smooth and the ABV is well hidden. More malty and sweet than a typical blonde.
