1 yr old... Poured an opaque black color with a medium sized tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of tart raspberry and cherries, roasted malt and very smokey. Taste of chocolate, light raspberry, black cherry, coffee, smoked/burnt malts. Nice mouthfeel, a very nice beer. Super complex. Probiere (992) - Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 5, 2004
UPDATED: FEB 6, 2004 The shining star of this brewery when comparing it to other ratings. This was a very unusual beer. Full marks for looks--head like a frothy chocolate milk shake--beautiful. Smells like tangy raspberries and coffee. I'm a sucker for raspberries done right, so I was looking forward to this. Whoa, super thin, almost milky mouthfeel here. Tastes like cream, raspberries, and coffee, in that order. Alcohol well hidden. This is more of a sweet stout than an Imperial, and the mouthfeel is too thin, but it is sweetly drinkable and quite recommended.
