750 ml bottle shared by Bstill! Thanks! Pours a deep amber light woody brown with a nice frothy sticky head. Aroma is nutty dry earth, leather, mineral-slate -dirt, yeasty saison-like with a doughy nutty spice kick - cardamon like and peppery. Flavor has a light caramel sweetness, toffee, and lots of earthy notes, leather, light cheese and horse, with herbal hops and a mostly drying finish with a lingering spice and hop bitterness. Pretty good. fiver29 (1112) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - MAY 23, 2009
Bottle pours dark amber color with off white head. Aroma is yeasty, sweet, and sour. Flavor follows and was more sweet than sour. Did finish with a tart dryness. Interesting brew and not my favorite.

25.4 oz bottle. Murky brown with a whipped up tannish head. Nose is dough and brown sugar with hints of lemon, cherry pit and cardamon. Medium light, a bit fizzy. Taste is malt, citrus peel and carrot; woody, peppery and slightly bitter. Simple with subtle complexities. I enjoyed this more with each glass. lithy (2996) - Capital of Appalachia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 12, 2009
SpringsLicker’s Fish Fry. Sample from a bottle thanks to tronraner. Hazy red-orange with a white cover. Aroma of caramel, metallic steel, brown sugar. Taste is some light fruitiness, more caramel and a dry dusty finish. decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - MAY 11, 2009
Slight hazed brown pour with a creamy off white head and lace. Brown sugar and caramel. A light metallic flavor, brown sugar, a medium dry finish, a light/medium bitter finish. A bit too foamy for my tastes but a damn solid offering. Just a tick from excellent. 3fourths (9358) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 3, 2009
Sample from a 750ml bottle. Clear and careful pour yields a garnet colored body with light haze and a well-formed billowy white head.Pillowy, dirty, minerally yeast in the nose. Focus is bran/wheat/weizen bock yeast esters. Subtle and quiet, pleasant and understated. BlackForestCO (1288) - Aurora, Colorado, USA - MAY 2, 2009
Bottle shared by Crosling, thanks man. Poured a clear, deep orange-brown color with a thick, dense off-white head that slowly faded and left some thick webby lacing. Lightly funky aroma with some light caramel, a bit of dry fruit (orange peel, soft lemon zest), a faint earthy spiciness, and some light brett. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some soft caramel that leads into a moderate bretty funkiness with some soft cobweb, a bit of hay, and some earthy spiciness that finished moderately dry with some light fruit (orange peel and soft peach skin). Moderate carbonation and full body. A nice, lively version of a dark saison. Drinkable and enjoyable.
