This entry is for the bottled version of Saison Noire (which contained brettanomyces). Ratings for the brewpub/draft version should go HERE

This Belgian-inspired dark saison has a rich, deep amber color and a wonderfully complex caramelized maltiness complimented by the funky, fruity and earthy character of our house saison yeast. Decadent but dry with some lingering funk and fruit.

Poured from 750ml, thanks to Captain Cougar. Nice lacy tan head over golden brown. Subtle aroma with hints of fruit.

CaptainCougar supplied 750ml bottle, thanks! Thick brown-orange color. Lacy head. Thick yeasty flavor. Quite a nice beer with lots of subtle Belgian-style nuances. Sweet but balanced by the Brett, which works itself into the equation superbly, not standing out and dominating like it can. Not unlike a hoppy Belgian Christmas Ale. Great beer.

(750ml bottle, thanks CaptainCougar) Small beige head atop cloudy dark amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, some sourness/funk, fairly mild. Taste is medium sweet, sour, chocolate, caramel. Medium body, some effervescence, acidity.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2009 75cl bottle courtesy of CaptainCougar. Hazy brown with a creamy beige head. The aroma is yeasty, doughy, dusty, and lightly acidic in a fruity way. Toasted malt and caramel flavors along with yeasty character and light acidity. Medium bodied with medium-hight carbonation. Really nice stuff with great yeast character and malt balance. Rerate: 75cl bottle thanks to illidurit. I was hoping for more brett as this has some age on it, but was almost unable to detect any, and the flavor was overall to sweet for a saison. Still decent, but thats about it.

Bottle from bullfrog. Dark amber body with a vicious 4 finger head. Copper with more metallic iron. Some floral notes, spices, caramel malt, and burnt sugar. This beer was screaming infection with all the metallic flavors.
