Best beer of the visit, black as night with a deep brown head, awesome lacing down the glass, nose full of roasted malt, bread & coffee, very smooth & creamy, very drinkable, medium in body, flavors full of chocolate, coffee & toasted grains, very rich finish with more chocolate & coffee, awesome stout

Very nice rich oatmeal stout. Pours a rich black with a creamy head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, toffee, light caramel and hints of hops. Flavor of chocolate and roasted black malts and roasted barley. Smooth finish. Nate (4279) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 25, 2005
On draught at State College 8th Annual Festival. Rich coffee and roasted-burnt malty aroma. Mild chocolate notes and some smokiness to it. Carbonic tang. Black body with thin tan head. Medium bodied, not quite thick, with medium-heavy carbonation. Starts dry and bitter with carbonic tang. Some smoky coffee and burnt malt, with a bit too much tang and carbonic acidity. Would probably do better under nitro. Heavy bitter finish and after, with lots of bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Big on the tongue, and needed a big glass of water before my next tasting. UPDATED: AUG 26, 2007 I have only encountered this brewer through beer festivals - but this time I managed to have my rating book with me. Sampled on draft at the State College beer festival this beer poured a dark black color with a medium sized frothy dark brown head. The aroma was sweet malts and hops. The body is very thick and creamy. The flavor is dry chocolate and burnt coffee. Far dryer than I was expecting in an oatmeal stout and a bit more dry than I care for.

Poured an opaque, dark brown color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malts, oats, chocolate, and a light citrus hoppiness. Taste of more roasted malts, light nuts, chocolate, that finished astringent, almost a little sour. Average mouthfeel.
