Once upon a time, this pretty good if unremarkable American attempt at recreating a Flemish Red was highly beleaguered in the trade forums. Nowadays it would probably command a huge haul. From notes. Tasted on 9/16/12 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle that I had obtained in a trade quite some time earlier. Pours cloudy brown with an average white head that slowly recedes to thin lace. The nose is sour lemon, funky barnyard, and a nice dose of caramel and bread malt. The flavor is not terribly sour, but very funky with nice balancing caramel malt. Pours hazy reddish-brown with a decent head.
Funky and tart aroma with a faint hint of vinegar.
Flavor, as expected, much better than the aroma suggests. Tart , early puckering, with a multitude of soft, ripe fruit notes. Approaches 9.

25.4 oz bottle. Deep burgundy brown with a thin ring of froth. Nose is sour red grapes, musty wood, toffee and black cherry. Slick medium body with a soft sparkle. Taste is apricot jam, oak and champagne vinegar finishing with strawberry lemonade. Still retains that lovely hint of sweet fruit that characterizes Bullfrog’s best work. Bottle shared at the 5k/7k/11k. Very generous share. Aroma of cherry, iron, and slight cheese. Pours hazy deep red with nice lacing. Taste is sour cherries, sweet tart candy, and a big dry yeast finish. Tart acidic mouthfeel some sweet caramel. Great flanders red.

Aroma is moderately acidic with some nice complexity and a bit of acetic character. Moderate oak notes. Quite a bit of fruit character - cherries and berries.
Pours a slightly cloudy amber with some light brown hues. Small thin tan head that recedes fairly quickly. Medium leaving and small legs.
Flavor has a medium light acidity with a medium oak character. Lots of fruit notes, especially cherries but also berries and cassis. Light sweetness with some light caramel and toffee with faint chocolate. Light alcohol spice and faint acetic.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.

750ml bottle pours a hazy, caramel amber with some spitty, off white head. Nose has a lot of sweat sock, some BO, rhubarb, vinegar, malt, paint thinner. Flavor is much better, acetic, red grape, some vinegar, a little fruit, strawberry. Finishes very acetic. 75cl bottle, thanks GT2. Medium beige head atop murky dark amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, sour cherry, some funk, lactic. Taste is moderately sweet, sour cherry, some soda, light funk. Rating #6700! 750mL from a trade on BA. Pours a full haze, muddy brune with fizzing out grayish foam. Nose is acetic impending, salty, red wine vinous. Taste is lighter than expected, minerally from the yeast agitation, mix of chocolate and cranberry like any good sour brown. There is an acetic bite in there but it isn’t as intense as the nose would hint. Palate is cranberry tannic, minerally, dusty. Still, pretty nice. Bottle provided by of GT2, thanks! Aroma is light red wine notes, cherries, touch of barrel notes. Flavor was notes of nice light vinegar notes. Tart notes. Nice!
