Small sample at Bainbridge. Poured hazy gold with thin head and lace. Notes of earth, green vegetal, toasted grain, light lemon. Light to medium body with a good bit of carbonation. I liked this one since the chili was pretty restrained. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 5, 2013
Growler. Pours a slightly hazy gold body with a small fizzy white head that faded to a thin covering. The nose is pretty typical for a Wit, lots of wheat with some orange peel and coriander. Can’s say that I smell any chili pepper, but there might be a bit of a vegetal note I guess. The flavor starts out pretty typical as well, nice wheat and light orange peel with a little yeastiness. The finish brings out the slight heat from the peppers, but it takes a good bit for it to reach a critical mass and after a while it really takes over and dominates. This is really one of those beers that you need to have a whole pint of to get to know fully. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation and a super long lingering finish. Pretty fun beer, and among the better chili pepper beers I’ve had.
