Toffee aroma and caramel. Dark caramelly colour. A touch of minerals and toffee in the taste, but that builds to being earthy and a bit minerallu. Dry. Not so to Anna’s taste. Phil noticed sherbetty sweets too.

Cask, gravity, at Pig ’n’ Falcon, St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Very dark brown. Heavy sweet malt aroma with a touch of sourness. Sour, tarry, leathery taste. Sharp bitter finish. Very pleasant.

Cask (gravity dispense). Beer #5 at Cambridge Winter Beer Festival on 21 January 2011. Vibrant dark red colour. Quite lively condition. A bit mushroomy on the nose and palate. Light earthy hops and some caramel. Decent enough.
