12oz bottle. Black Kolsch huh. I am all for stylistic deviation...but Black Kolsch just screams dumb ass brewer...especially when it tastes like a Schwarzbier or Dunkel. Deep brown-black body. Foamy beige head. Dry mineral mouthfeel, and also chalky bittersweet chocolate. Drinkable enough, but not that impressive of an offering on a few levels. dwm1034 (786) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 25, 2017
Gift beer from Missouri friend...thanks. Pours black with tan head. Smooth nose and initial taste; mild aftertaste...in general - a pleasant beer. will have another. phaleslu (10957) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 6, 2016
12 oz. can from Craft Beer Cellar-Clayton. Pours a dark coffee brown, mostly opaque, with a finger of frothy beige head that settles into a thick ring and uneven film, leaving a lot of lace in the glass. Notes of herbs, leaves, chocolate, toast, earth, mild spice, and a hint of sweetness. Light-bodied, with medium-plus carbonation and an earthy, toasty, slightly spicy mouthfeel. Interesting mish-mash of a beer. theisti (4247) - Kansas, USA - MAY 5, 2016
12 oz can purchased as part of a mix a six from Friar Tuck in O’Fallon, Missouri. The pour is a black brown with a foamy one inch tan head that falls with lace. The aroma is nutty, tobacco malt along with a soft floral. The taste is the nutty soft roast malt, pleasant earth, floral grass tobacco and more toast almost char towards the back. Some interesting flavors going on. The palate is light to medium bodied with active carbonation and the roast malt mineral dry finish. Fun take on the style. wlajwl (7283) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - APR 30, 2016
Aroma is citrus, a mix of pale and dark malts and a hint of funk. The flavor is citrus/fruit, a mix of pale and dark malts and a very slightly funky/tart finish.

355ml can. Not really a koelsch but whatever. It is an oakay at best "dark ale" with cocoa and roasty notes. vyvvy (6944) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 7, 2016
The beer pours dark brown with a large tan head. The aroma has mild chocolate, kolsch style yeast and a touch of nuttiness. It has a smooth medium body with very soft carbonation. The flavor starts mild smooth toasted malt, cocoa, light spice and some of fruitiness. The finish has some phenolic spice there. Decent. thegreenrooster (4663) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 6, 2016
Pour is a dark brown with a tan creamy head. Aroma is a nice roasty malt with maybe some bakers chocolate. Flavor is a bit thinner than the look an the aroma lead you to believe A decent dark malt like a porter with a white bread an a little leather, This was an ok beer a bit different but decent flavor an a different take on the style

Really good tasting ale. Black in color with a flothy white head that retains it self. Aroma of Chocolate and coffee beans. Tastes like chocolate coffee beans. Will drink again. jandd1983 (4720) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - JUN 20, 2015
Sampler at the brewery. It poured a reddish color with a tan head. The aroma was of Pils malts, corn and earthy hops. The taste was of sweet malts, light hops and some bitterness with a dry finish. It had a light body and moderate carbonation.
