Sampled on tap at the brewery (5/21/15). Nice hop nose, herbal with some nutty roasted malts. Dark black with thin beige head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Bitter hoppy taste with wheaty-rye-chocolate malt nutty and roasted bitter quality. Hoppy-nutty finish and after. DCLawyer (2949) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - JAN 1, 2016
Draft->mini snifter at Adroit Theory. Deep brown with small tan head. Citrus and pine hops, roasted chocolate, spice. Very good. Dogbrick (14389) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 10, 2015
Sample at the taproom. The beer pours a dark cola-brown color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and rye. Medium to full body with flavors of chocolate malt, earthy hops and mildly spicy rye. The finish is malty up front with a lingering resiny hop aftertaste. Pretty good overall. Draft at Adroit Theory. Black with tan head. Aroma of citrus with hints of mint and nettle tea. Bitter, strong grassy hop, woodsey. Some road malt and pin in the finish. Very enjoyable. Travlr (26946) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JUL 21, 2015

Taster at brewpub. Pretty great. Too hot for this beer and abv at the moment, but great nonetheless. Super dark, opaque pour. Pretty big all the way through- nice toasty notes and something like funk at the end? Interesting stuff. Will be needing more of this. Tmoney99 (15219) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 10, 2015
Draft. Poured clear black color with an average fizzy tan head that lasted and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex toasted malt and hop & alcohol aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good beer. bubbleflubber (2244) - Swannanoa, North Carolina, USA - JUN 6, 2015
On tap at the brewery, this pours pitch black with a creamy tan head that reduces to ring lacing. The nose is of burnt sesame seeds. Flavors of grains, sesame, light cherry, some char to finish, it's full-bodied and a great example of the complexity of the hops and sesame adjuncts at work. Easy quaff and scrumptious. Another winner Burial!

Draft to taster at Burial. Looks good; a slightly translucent very dark cola with light beige lacing. Smells of a nice balance of dark malt, dark chocolate, bitter and piney hops, and roast. Tastes like it smells with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable.
