Black Giraffe is the result of a collaboration between Burleigh Brewing and Zarraffa Coffee that saw the brewer combine 100 kilos of 100 per cent rainforest alliance coffee beans to create a locally-produced rich and flavoursome black coffee lager.

Clear dark black brown colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, sharp, alcohol ! Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, coffee, hard to drink because of heavy carbonation ! Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is fizzy. [20120320]

Bottled - shaken by Papsoe. A small black beer with a huge dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of coffee, bread, and roasted malt, leading to a dry and bitter finish.

On tap at Burleigh Brewing, pours black with a reddish hue and a small tan head. Aroma brings out notes of coffee and dark dried fruits. Flavour is along the same lines, with dried fruits, like figs and dates, and moderate coffee notes. Medium roastiness and dark fruitiness. Decent.

22oz. Pour is deep brune to ruby with a large, tan to yellow head leaving okay to little lace. Decent retention. Aroma is mocha, dark chocolate, Starbucks macchiato, sharp caramel, burnt caramel, anise, licorice. Taste is slight black olives but thankfully moves away to bitter coffee, creamy coffee, cedar, oak chips, unsweetened chocolate. Dry palate.

Black color with red hues, brown head. Roasted, coffee, dry taste. Coffee, dry, roasted aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high dry griany bitterness. Malty, grainy, coffee, roasted scent.
