A couple of centuries back, IPA was made strong and hoppy to protect it on those long voyages from England to India. These days, we just make it that way because it tastes great.
An intensive five-stage hopping process delivers a rich, robust character, smooth flavour and an inviting aroma. So, while it has all the mighty ‘BAM’ of the original, it’s surprisingly well balanced – a bit like our skateboarding elephant.
Five malted barley varieties, five natural hop varieties, fruity ale yeast and water.

650ml bottle. Cracker of an IPA. Big bright orange colour with a thin white head that settles to a lacing around the glass. Strong pine and floral hop aroma that fills the nose and sets you up for what is to come. Flavour is very hop forward with a resinous aftertaste on the palate.

From bottle in shaker at Paradise Resort. Amber with wispy off-white head. Fruitiness from both hops and yeast translates through the aroma to the tastebuds. I sense fig notes but may be biased by the acronym. I've had this several times and it can be a bit boozy in spots, especially when long in the tooth, but when fresh it's one of the better QLD IPA's.

Quite sweet but rich. Malty with a fruity dried fruit and fig backbone. An interesting take on the IPA with the hops quite restrained

This one’s almost as thick as fig jam - you could spread it on your toast. The malts are quite full on, producing a sweet honey, raisin, peach and mandarin cocktail, plus a modest hop aftertaste. I love my big IPAs but I’m finding this one a little too much.
