A couple of centuries back, IPA was made strong and hoppy to protect it on those long voyages from England to India. These days, we just make it that way because it tastes great.
An intensive five-stage hopping process delivers a rich, robust character, smooth flavour and an inviting aroma. So, while it has all the mighty ‘BAM’ of the original, it’s surprisingly well balanced – a bit like our skateboarding elephant.
Five malted barley varieties, five natural hop varieties, fruity ale yeast and water.

Bottle. Pours hazy hardly clear pale orange with big rocky dishsoap off white head and cloudy lace. Big aromas of pine spruce citrus, caramel malt toffee, honey, vanilla and pitted fruits. Medium body, a touch artificially sweet on the taste, bitterness overshadowed by the lightly sickly sweet character, toffee lingers right through with the honey vanilla, fig sweetness - nonetheless tasty right through the finish. Satisfying, but the sickly sweet character leaves it to be savoured and not thrown back at a rate. Overall interesting beer.

Quite sweet but rich. Malty with a fruity dried fruit and fig backbone. An interesting take on the IPA with the hops quite restrained

LesArgen (366) - AUSTRALIA - APR 28, 2017
This one’s almost as thick as fig jam - you could spread it on your toast. The malts are quite full on, producing a sweet honey, raisin, peach and mandarin cocktail, plus a modest hop aftertaste. I love my big IPAs but I’m finding this one a little too much.

sm89walt (2073) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAR 5, 2017
Bottle. Deep golden amber with a small and somewhat lasting beige head. Aromas of pine, resin, peach, mango and pineapple alongside a distinct sweet-accented malt profile. Quite Ric on te palate with the malts but cut through by te hopmprofjls. Mid-weight, medium carbonation and a moderate to full length and intensity bitterness.
