COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Burnside Oatmeal Pale Ale is brewed using copious amounts of Crystal, Galena, & Fuggle hop varietals. This is a clean dry Pale Ale with low bitterness and lots of hop flavor. We have chosen to add 75 pounds of locally rolled oats to increase body and give our Pale a sweet creamy finish.

1 pint 6 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is light herbal. Dry hoppy, toasted malt. Smooth fruity, peachy and toasted malty. Smooth fruity, crisp hoppy. Bitter and smooth fruity finish.

Bottle, shared with Dave. Medium orange, low white head. Cooked peaches with undertones of torn plastic, a touch of treacle sweetness. That plastic becomes so intrusive-- must be an off bottle?

Part of a flight on June 29, 2015. At the brewpub in Portland.
Light hazy golden color, off-white head. Sweet, caramel, hoppy, floral taste. Hoppy aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Malty and hoppy scent.

On tap @ Burnside. Amber colored beer with a small white head. Nose of grain husks and pale malts right away. Light grassy and floral hops, perhaps a touch of citrus. Tastes a bit like popcorn...and bread. Mildly bitter with some of the citrus notes being of the peel/pith variety as well as some grain astringency. Just nothing really all that great here.

Had on draft at the brewery. Pours a cloudy copper, citrusy, creamy mouth feel, earthy, slightly woody, citrus rind/pithy. Interesting.

Pours hazy pale amber with three fingers of rocky and growing off-white head and moderate lacing. (4/5) Nose is oatmeal, citrus, floral, earthy, caramel malt. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Medium bodied and slightly creamy, moderate carbonation, dry and lingering bitter finish. (3/5) First time I’ve had an "oatmeal pale,” but it plays out pretty much the way you’d expect: the oatmeal adds body and smoothness to the base pale ale, but also seems to slightly dull the nose. perhaps as a result, the hop character seems to split the difference between English and American styles - not quite as bright and fruity as APA’s, but definitely more aggressive than typical EPA’s. (14/20)

Dark and roasty beer that is smooth and has a tan head. Malty beer with complex taste and well balanced feel.

Bottle shared with Chase, thanks. Pours a golden orange color, moderate haze, and a large creamy sandy head. Nose is light floral and citrus, some earthy bits. Modest hop flavor, floral, citrus, and some spicy herbals… could be the oatmeal. Well balanced, approachable.

[2/24/15] Draught at Burnside Brewing in Portland. Clear deep golden-copper. Pleasant fruity hops aroma, rather citric. Flavor has some malty sweetness, citric hops and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied.

Bomber from Grocery Outlet. Pours an opaque deep amber in color. Earth nose, smells of butterscotch and English hops. Thick mouthfeel. Good earthy hop flavorings. Reminds me of an esb or English pale. Pretty good hop bit throughout.
