COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Burnside Sweet Heat is a wheat ale with an addition of 200 pounds of Apricot puree, then dry hopped with imported Jamaican Scotch Bonnet peppers. Reminiscent of a Caribbean chutney, Sweet Heat has a subtle tartness from the fruit with a slight spiciness from the peppers which also adds a fruitiness to the aroma.

Bottle thanks to Dan. Nose is vegetal. Very sweet up front and then goes into a slow burn in your throat. Ugh. Not bad but definitely glad someone shared it.

22 oz. bottle. Gift that my wife purchased at the airport in Portland. Pour was hazy golden, white head. Aroma was hot pepper, vegetables, sweet malt. Taste was mild chili pepper heat, wheat, fruity. Some lasting pepper heat on the tongue.

Clear golden color with a small white head. Peppers, sweetness, fruits and mild hops in the aroma. The flavor is apricot, peppers, sweetness and malt. Very nice chili balance.

(Burnside Sweet Heat) Bottle 650ml at home, served into a shaker, ABV 4.9% Bright golden yellow colour on the body, tall and thick white head on top, great retention. Aroma has lots and lots of chili peppers, lemon leaves underneath and subtle fruity notes. Taste is mainly peppers, not much of a burn thoough, just a tickle at th back of the throat for the most part. Again subtle fruity notes, I couldnt clearly say it was apricot, faint wheat on the aftertaste. Medium body with good carbonation. Quite good.

Bomber, brought back from Portland. Apricot aroma with chili pepper and wheat malt notes. Pours cloudy, pale golden colored with half a finger of white head that has good retention and excellent lacing. Starts with sweet apricot and wheat malt flavors. Finishes smooth with the sweet apricot flavors continuing before the heat of the peppers kicks in near the end and asserts its flavor and lingers in the back of the throat nicely. Well balanced chili ale that lives up to its name.

Spiced fruit beer from this Portland brewery, from a 65 cl bomber. Irregularly shaped, snow white, lightly lacing, slowly breaking head over a misty yellow blonde beer with warm peachy hue. Aroma of indeed mashed apricots, sweet chili peppers, moldy lemon, soggy white bread, soap, ginger, cider, grape peel. Vividly fruity onset with actual fruit tartness but more in a green plum- or berry-like way than apricots - at least at first, because in the middle a certain apricot sweetness does show up, over a soft soapy wheat and bready backbone; the fruity sourness continues over this and then is met by a strong chili heat which lasts quite long but actually fits in surprisingly well; soapy wheat and sourish fruit flavors linger after swallowing. A daring combination of flavors and youll have to like piquanterie in your beer in order to appreciate this, but I certainly do and for me this combination works fine.

Rating #1686 - 29.05.2015 - On tap at Burnside with CBI crew. Pours a golden straw colour with a white foam that bubbles away quickly. Aroma is thai chili sauce, peppers, lime. Taste is quite smooth, light witbier qualities, mild sweetness, and its as though you dredged a Belgian wit through that inevitable sauce pool at the bottom of your basket of Thai chili wings. Predictably spicy and delicious.

on draft, interested to try this, heard this won a medal a couple years back .. . heat is apparent, light spice, apricot, apricot pit, grain .. . mouth is a bit prickly, throat has a slight warmth .. good beer, food would be plus. but food is pretty good and required for life..
