COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a sweet beer with a pleasant flavour of hops. Indeed, for Bush de Noel, the brewer uses a traditional process which consists in placing hops flowers in the vats where the beer rests for four to six weeks by which time it will have reached full maturity, giving it a very distinctive taste. In the U.S the label generally reads Scaldis Noel.

The aroma has caramel, spice, yeast, and citrus. The appearance is dark amber/copper with a nice foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma with a good balance of sweet toasted malt and bitter. The palate is smooth and chewy. The finish is warm. Overall it’s a great beer!

Bottle, an enticing light brown colour with a white foamy head. A strong alcoholic malty aroma with spice and oranges. A strong rich and full mouthfeel, nutty malt flavours with a fruity finish. Another good beer from Dubuisson.

250ml bottle. i believe an 06 bottle. pours a deep amber with nice head. nose is just kinda yeasty and nothing else really going on maybe some really mild toffee and caramel notes. flavor isn’t that pleasant, some stale dried currant, raison, cherry notes but rather unpleasant. great mouthfeel. however, this beer just doesn’t taste that great.

Bottle brought back from Belgium. Poured dark copper. Medium to large whitish head. Aroma was of malt, dark fruit, sugar, spice and of course yeast. Very creamy mouthfeel; which I liked a lot. Nice mixture of sweet malt and hops. Couldn’t tell it was 12%; alcohol hidden. Other flavors were of fruit and spice; some sugar and nuttiness too. Wouldn’t have known it was a winter ale; but still enjoyed it.

Very good looking brew, but its creamy flavor and mouthfeel makes the expectations falling down. Some alcoholic taste and enormous amounts of fruit flavors. Good for the fireplace!

2005 vintage on tap at Uber. Very cloudy almost creamy looking apple cider brown with big off white head. Sweet and slightly sour aroma. Not much spice in the aroma. But, good spice and fermented sour apple in the taste. Looks and tastes a lot like alcoholic apple cider. Alcohol is very mellow compared to the 06 fresher version.

250 ml Bottle labeled Scaldis Noel
Pours a gorgeous dark copper color with a thin haze. Head is medium big, creamy and persistant. It leaves a film that stays until the end of the glass. Fantastic malty aroma with yeasty touches. There are notes of chestnuts, plums, prunes, molasses and scotch whisky. I could even discern some woody hints and traces of raisins, clove, licorice and cookies. Flavor is strong, bold, sweet and liquorish. Notes of chestnut, hazelnut, almonds and amaretto which gives a nice bitter counterpoint. Low hop presence. Excellent. Body is big, creamy and smooth. Medium carbonation. Elegant and complex character. Succulent. Warming high alcohol presence, slightly overpowering. Finish is alcoholic and rather short. It leaves a nutty aftertaste. Amazing.

2006 bottle. Great looking deep amber in color with medium head. Sweet smelling and very good flavor. Sweet and not overly alcoholic tasting. Really smooth for 12%

buckybeer (666) - Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 26, 2006
Pours a medium / dark amber with small head. Has a sweet / sour aroma. Flavor has nice malty spices with a nice warming effect. A nice Christmas Eve sipper.

Pours muddy pale brown with a big creamy head. Lightly vinious with plenty of caramel malts in the aroma. Taste is equally vinious, gaining more character as the beer heats up. Quite sweet with some coriander.
