Originally released as a special as Brunel 200 IPA for the Brunel Birthday Celebrations in April 2006.
Brunel and his fellow engineers challenged our sense of what was possible, and in doing so changed the face of the world. Brunel IPA is a clean tasting, dry and hoppy, authentic recipe India Pale Ale. Amber in colour, full bodied with a bittersweet finish…perfectly engineered!

BeerViking (5132) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 19, 2016
Bottle from the Co-op, deep red-brown with a thin head, and a spicy, lightly toasty nose. Body is earthy and toffeeish, with hints of toasted sugared citrus and a light crisp and spicy bitterness. Very much an English style IPA but with American hints.

BeerNinjaUK (491) - Wiltshire, ENGLAND - FEB 17, 2016
Bottle from Waitrose. Pours mid amber with thin head which rapidly dissipates. Aroma includes caramel and slight honey edge. Taste is well balanced with light cereal but nothing particularly interesting.

LazyPyro (1809) - Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 25, 2016
500ml bottle. Clear amber colour with a good frothy white head. Hoppy aroma, citrus, malts. Flavour is quite hoppy and bittersweet, pleasant mouthfeel. Fairly nice IPA I thought.

A nose like Pinocchio’s, had Pinocchio’s nose been cut off. It should have been long and full, but is short and weak. The lie with Butcombe Brunel Atlantic IPA is that it isn’t an American IPA, more of a lager beer. Drinkable though, it passes that test.

SilkTork (5926) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - DEC 19, 2015
500ml dark bottle from Asda. Clean and crisp. Pleasant enough and inoffensive, but no character and lacking in all respects. More of a lager than an ale. It’s all in balance and professionally made, but there’s nothing much here for me. Can’t believe this is 5% abv.

Bottle from Tesco, as Brunel Atlantic IPA at 5% so rated here. Amber colour with a thin off white head. Over fruit aroma. Taste mainly sweet, with a very light bitter finish.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2015 Origin: Bottle. Vessel: Pint Glass. Locale: House (Bristol). Fruity initial bite and pleasant yet mellow aftertaste.

*Old rating from 2010. Sweetish-malty, slightly floral, but a bit too sweetish. But nice and round.

Bottle at home split with Sarah, picked up from Waitrose online. Light amber / golden coloured pour with a lasting thin off white head. Aroma is nutty malt, some caramel, sweet orange, bit of vanish / solvent and a little green apple ester. Some hay on the nose as well. Flavour is composed of dark burnt sugars, caramel, nutty malts and semi sweet sugars. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation. Pretty standard fare.
