Cask handpull at The Crosse Keys London as Butcombe Gold. Golden yellow, clear and still, minimal off white head leaves some dotted lacing. Aroma is airy, sugary malt, sugar crusted malted milk. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is light grainy malts, suggestions of buttery shortbread and crumpet, sugary malt with a drying Hop finish. About as simple as traditional golden bitters get but that’s ok. Takes me back to when most beers were like this when I started drinking 14 years ago. Cask at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A clear deep golden colour with a medium white head. Aroma of caramel, some fruit, slight biscuit and subtle earthy hops. Taste is similar of caramel, maybe butterscotch, some biscuit, slight fruit and subtle earthy hops. Light bodied and soft carbonation. A soft, earthy hop bitterness in the finish. Not a lot to say about this beer, boring but drinkable.
