This stout beer pays tribute to the Butternuts Brewery’s former life as a dairy farm. It’s a more drinkable version of the Stout breed than its heavy, boorish and smelly European sisters. We use lactose sugar for body and mouthfeel; not too strong, not too viscous at 4.9% abv. Unlike a true bovine it has a malty, roasty aroma and a dry finish but no tail or teats, and leaves no unsightly cow pies laying around the yard for you to step in.

If I enjoyed coffee I would enjoy this beer. Unfortunately I find the coffee flavor gross, and therefore this was not for me. Dont let my rating deter other coffee fans from trying this.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2017 This is a horrendous stout. Save yourself the trouble and light your money on fire.

Jabah (550) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - NOV 30, 2017
Resembles a lighter dry European stout, but with a sweeter lactose flavor. Good chocolate flavor yet not overwhelmingly sweet like a lot of milk stouts. Dark black appearance with a frothy mocha head. Only sampled a single, but I would grab a 6 of this in the future.

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2017 12 oz can, mildly sweet aroma, tangy malts forward but some sweetness throughout, medium mouthfeel, good but not great

Can from Total Wine - Henderson. Dark brown pour with fast subsiding head. Aroma is mostly roast grains, some nuttiness. taste also features the roast grains, very minor notes of coffee. Kind of watery.

12oz can. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head and not much lacing. Coffee and cream aroma, flavour is coffee, milk, chocolate and a little pine

Larry_Duffman (613) - - MAY 28, 2017
I had it from the can. It’s milk, sugar, coffee, and chocolate. It’s creamy and a little bitter. This is a standard but solid sweet stout.

17Beer (428) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 31, 2017
Chalky coffee smells. Pours very dark red brown with a thin tan head. Some lacing. Tastes of taosted malt with a relatively short, sour finish. Pretty well balanced but a very basic stout.

Can. Brown pour with light lactic and chocolate qualities. Easily the best of the 4 pack, but mediocre instead of bad isn’t really that much of a compliment. Not as watery, but still lacking body.

Can 355ml @ home

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, oat, lactose, licorice and hint of coffee. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a nice roasted, chocolate, caramel, coffee and not overly creamy finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
