(Buxton Imperial Black) Bottle 330 ml, shared with vipinvelp, ABV 7.5% Black coloured body, light beige head, tall but a bit thin, with good retention though, leaving medium lacing on the glass. Aroma of grass, hops, citrus, not so much roasted character. Nice taste, grass, light hops, wild plantation, light chocolate, roasted malts now, liquorice. Medium body, good carbonation. Very nice.

Bottle from Euston Tap. Dark brown with a huge beige head. Fresh citrus nose as well as hint of berries. just a hint of roasted malts, initial caramel sweetness giving way to fresh citrus hop bitterness. Very good.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2013 Toffee orange and Terrys chocolate orange up front on this impenetrable dark ruby-brown beer. Good sized fluffy beige head forms. Gentle carbonation and a world of flavour. Up front we get a hint of freshly ground coffee, followed swiftly by pine resin and sweet toffee malt. Then the citrus comes along to freshen the palate and finishes with a hint of earthy malt. Some chocolate, lots of hop bitterness. Its particularly drinkable for its ABV and bests the original. Im glad I have 500ml as 330ml wouldnt be enough. Lovely. This is up there with Axe-edge and SPA as my top Buxton brews. Edited 2/8/12 score revised up to 4.8 from 4.6 keg at barley mow, bristol
Unable to find fault, spot on tropical aroma, nary a hint of black malt, just full on fruit punch, no sign of the booze either, perfect carbonation and palate, fab 5/5 Edited 8/5/13 score up from 4.8 to 5

14.07.2014, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Big light brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet and fresh roasted, dark malts, pine needles, caramel, hops, coffee, bark, licorice, grass, leafs. Taste is dry and roasted, dark malts, coffee, pine needles, lots of hops, burnt caramel, bark, soil, weeds, grass, leafs, licorice. Longlasting bitterness, dry and a little thin mouthfeel, fizzy carbonation. Nice enough.

33cl bottle from llepood Nr.1 Gambrinus, Tartu. Pours pretty much black with a tan head. Fresh hoppy aroma with pine, fruits, citrus and some dark and roasty notes in the background. Quite dominated by the hops, but well balanced and refreshing. Moderate sweet with delicous hoppy flavours and a quite bitter and citrusy finish. The black aromas seems to stay in the background and its more like a regular IPA, but certainly a nice one.

On bottle at Øltorget, Mathallen Oslo. Pitch black color, good offwhite foam / slightly brownish. Immediately hoppy, some roasted aromas, coffee, licorice: medium high aroma intensity. Medium: full body & high complexity . Solid bitterness - ok balance. Very enjoyable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
