On tap at Mikkeller Bar. Pours near black with a thick tan head and a citrus and treacle aroma. There is a hearty chocolate malt flavor with dome dark molasses and a hefty dose of hop bitterness.

My Bottom Line:
This fruity, resinous and chocolatey Black IPA pleases from aroma to finish, lending plenty of complexity and flavor.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A stable sheet of foam decorates the brown-edged black.
-Carbonation might be a bit zealous.
-Hop profile is more coniferous than citrusy.
-Bitterness is a blend of hop resins and malt roastiness.
-Drinkability is pretty high for the style.

Bottle. Merci, Ian!

Cask @ Borefts 2012. Black with only some bubbles for a head. Very lovely hopiness, citrus, tropical fruits, white grapes, pine. Taste is similar, tropical fruits, citrus zest, white grapes, tad kiwi, pulp, reasonably bitter with some mocha and dark malts, fine roast and choc in the back. Cask bodied, little carb and served warmer than usual which I mind less. It a UK thang.

9/I/15 - 33cl bottle from a trade @ home - BB: 11/VI/15, bottled: 11/IX/14 (2015-25) Thanks to The_Osprey for the trade!

Little hazy deep brown beer, huge creamy beige head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: bit piny, citrus, caramel, some mocha, sweet malts, cheesy touch, fruity, some strawberry jam. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of citrus, little sour, bitter hops, bit resinous. Aftertaste: soft roast, very bitter hops, resinous, citrus, bit piny, oily hops, long lasting bitterness. Very nice stuff!

Draught. Low fluffy and quickly disappearing brown head. Very dark body. Mild sugary coffee citrus cream aroma and flavor with a fair amount of hops bitterness. Low carbonation. Short finish. Alcohol level nicely disquised.

Bottle from Hell Hunt, Tallinn. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy off white head and a little lace. The aroma is big grassy hop. The flavour is strong bitter with a huge grass nettle light spice pepper hop citrus palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. They teally threw the hops at this one and sometimes it works and other times it doesn’t. This does however work for me. I’d normally mark a beer down for being a little one dimesional, but this time I will make an exception.

Deep pitch black pour with a thick moussey brown head. The aroma is amazing - orange peel, tangerine and some slightly tropical notes. A very subtle bit of cocoa and a touch of moderate malt character through the middle. Medium bodied but the hops in here are very expressive. Juicy and citrusy with a fantastic balance of malt and hops. Has a little bit of floral character as well. It’s lovely.
