Cask, Derby Winter Fest 2012. Very dark brown with a beige foam. Aromas are spicy with fruity, nutty dark chocolate and peppery grapefruit. Light coffee with melon and burnt toast. Flavours are bittersweet grapefruit with dark chocolate and marzipan. Spicy with vinous, red wine fruitiness. Pithy and dry to finish. Good stuff. cubs (10742) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUL 14, 2012
Bottle @ Papsø. A bit cloudy, dark brown appearance with a tan head. A little minty, mild piney, dark chocolate, lightly roasty aroma. Fairly roasty, a bit charred, spruce/piney, somewhat bitter flavor and overall pretty solid. olio (10695) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 18, 2012

Little hazy deep brown beer, huge creamy beige head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: bit piny, citrus, caramel, some mocha, sweet malts, cheesy touch, fruity, some strawberry jam. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of citrus, little sour, bitter hops, bit resinous. Aftertaste: soft roast, very bitter hops, resinous, citrus, bit piny, oily hops, long lasting bitterness. Very nice stuff!

Bottle from Hell Hunt, Tallinn. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy off white head and a little lace. The aroma is big grassy hop. The flavour is strong bitter with a huge grass nettle light spice pepper hop citrus palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. They teally threw the hops at this one and sometimes it works and other times it doesn’t. This does however work for me. I’d normally mark a beer down for being a little one dimesional, but this time I will make an exception. deanso (10292) - Chiang Mai, THAILAND - JUL 26, 2012

My Bottom Line:JoeMcPhee (10137) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 5, 2014
This fruity, resinous and chocolatey Black IPA pleases from aroma to finish, lending plenty of complexity and flavor.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A stable sheet of foam decorates the brown-edged black.
-Carbonation might be a bit zealous.
-Hop profile is more coniferous than citrusy.
-Bitterness is a blend of hop resins and malt roastiness.
-Drinkability is pretty high for the style.
Bottle. Merci, Ian!
Deep pitch black pour with a thick moussey brown head. The aroma is amazing - orange peel, tangerine and some slightly tropical notes. A very subtle bit of cocoa and a touch of moderate malt character through the middle. Medium bodied but the hops in here are very expressive. Juicy and citrusy with a fantastic balance of malt and hops. Has a little bit of floral character as well. It’s lovely. gyllenbock (10035) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 14, 2013
Bottle at Babajan, April 2013.
Black with a creamy slightly tan head. Soft and nicely drinkable with light roasted malt, licorice, hops, grape. The finish was bitter.
