(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm, 20 Feb 2014) Black colour with frothy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of pine needles, coffee, dark chocolate, black rye bread and hints of mint. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with coffee, dark chocolate, pine needles, grapefruit, black rye bread and a generous piney, citric bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Very tasty and well made black IPA. Very nice. nimbleprop (8761) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 19, 2013
4oz pour at Max’s Hop Fest 2013. Pours a translucent, mahogany with some light lacing head. Nose is nice, piney, floral, cracker, bread crust. Flavor is malty, brown sugar, cracker, pine, lemon, soap. Astringent finish. Good example of the style. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - FEB 6, 2012
Cask conditioned air dispense Euston Tap London. A black beer with an off-white head. Delicious grapefruity hops throughout. Notes of coal from the dark malts but no sweetness. Beautiful flavours and ridiculously drinkable. Not as robust by depth as some but gorgeous all the same. Plovmand (8623) - Grindsted, DENMARK - NOV 16, 2014
Bottle traded with madmitch76. It pours black with a creamy beige head. The aroma is loaded with juicy hops and licorice. Light roast. The flavor is licorice, roasted malts, citric hops, juicy fruit and pine. Great stuff.

Fruity aroma with resin and gooseberry bush. Also hints of nettles and roastiness. Flavour is rather hoppy with gooseberry bush. some ash, vanilla and nettles. Quite rich, hoppy and balanced BIPA.
Bottle. Jet black with a medium off-white head. The nose is roasted malts, plenty of pine and floral hops, some bitter chocolate. The taste is light acidic coffee, more floral, spruce hops, some wood. Bitter chocolate finish. Medium/full body. Well-hidden alcohol. Overall, I don’t particularly like black IPAs, but this is very nice, well balanced. Marduk (8404) - Reval, ESTONIA - DEC 26, 2013
