Pours a black colour with an off-white head. Aroma of lovely floral hops, citrus and some maltiness. Flavour of roasted malts, strong floral hops, citrus, mandarin orange and exotic fruitiness. Medium bodied, silky smooth mouthfeel and a smooth, roasty and nicely bitter finish. Really well balanced. Delicious.
330ml bottle. Very dark brown color. Massive size, brown head, stays. Full of hops, sweet, mellow roast, fresh notes in aroma. Nice sneaking roast, bunch of hops, juicy, floral taste. Well balanced bitterness. Nice brew! blankboy (7699) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 26, 2014
[Bottle (500ml)] Pours a very dark amber-brown with a large mostly-lasting rocky tan head and lots of lacing. Aroma has a surprising, in a good way, amount of hops along with malt and some coffee -- mostly just hops though. (Surprising because I didn’t realize this was a Black IPA) Flavour is also really hoppy along with some roasted malt, coffee and a long moderate hoppy finish. Medium bodied. Really good, I need to get more. teorn88 (7682) - Rimini, ITALY - NOV 7, 2014
Backlog rating. Bottle in London. It pours a deep amber-brown color with a medium off-white head. Aroma is earthy and malty with notes of pines needles, dried leaves and cut grass. Taste is malty with some caramel, earthy notes and piney hops and resin. Quite full bodied with medium carbonation. Overall, a good take on the style

First rating: Big beige-brown lasting head. Mostly opaque black body goes deep dark
brown at edges. Spicy roasty earthy aroma with chocolatey notes.
Dry-sweet spicy earthy gooseberry taste with roasty notes.
Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry roasty earthy chocolatey
aftertaste with spicy gooseberry notes. Lovely, harmonic beer with
lots of flavour. (0.33l bottle, from wine monopoly, Strømmen.) 6,4,7,3,13=3.3
Second rating: Big brown-beige head. Opaque black body goes deep dark red at
the bottom with fast carbonation. Deep roasty tropical fruit
aroma with wooden overripe berries notes. Dry-sweet roasty
pineapple taste with wooden notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft
mouthfeel. Dry wooden lacquer and tropical fruit aftertaste with
burnt dusty notes. The aroma has some jarring combinations, but
it’s much more harmonic in the mouth. (0.33l bottle, from wine
monopoly, Strømmen.) 6,4,7,3,13=3.3
On tap at 4th Borefts. Black colour with small tan head, leaving a thin layer. Full dose intense hoppy aroma, grassy. Taste is grassy hoppy, decent dark malty undertones; really bitter finish. Sigmund (7537) - Tau, NORWAY - OCT 1, 2013
500 ml bottle conditioned, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Lovely aroma of citrussy hops, on a background of moderately roasted malts, hints of dark chocolate. The medium dry flavour has again citrussy hops, blended with distinct roasted malts, notes of strong coffee, dark bitter chocolate and resin. The contradictory "Black IPA" style is beginning to grow on me, and this one is a fine specimen. chriso (7533) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 30, 2014
From keg at the Euston Tap on 9 September 2014. Not had this chappie in a while and it was a pleasure to renew acquaintance (note to self: where are my old and more extensive notes?). Really lovely fruity, tropical hop character on the nose. Excellent balance of roast and bitter/grapefruit hop character on the palate. Just as a black IPA should be.
