Euston Tap. Keg. 6.8% abv. Pretty hazy gold beer with a small white head. Wonderful nose of Motueka like floralness with a touch of citrus. The palate is smooth with a light fine carbonation. The malt is sweet and creamy and does a lovely job of supporting fantastic NZ hops. Rich and sweet floralness kept in check by light orange and tropical fruits. The malt doesn’t let go though and provides a smooth finish that is punctuated by crisp nip. This is fantastic. A beer has to be very good indeed for me to order a second one. Well I drank another three of these and was sad when I had to leave because they were closing down!
On tap @ La Cerveteca, Barcelona. Pours a cloudy golden colour with a white head. Aroma is grass, floral, herbs and citrus. Texture is oily soft carbonation and taste is citrus, papaya, with a bitter aftertaste. Very nice brew! I want moreee! Garrold (5694) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - SEP 6, 2013
Keg at Leeds International Beer Festival. Hazy gold. Thick, white head. Aroma is ripe peach and pine hoppiness. I’m typing this the day after tasting and my mouth is watering thinking about it! Full bodied and slightly oily mouthfeel. Feels very well balanced and the hops aren’t mouth stripping. I want more! Leighton (22555) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 18, 2013
UPDATED: OCT 27, 2013 Keg at the Euston Tap - London. Pours hazy gold with a moderate white foam head. Nose has some ripening citrus fruits, melon, peach. Medium sweet flavor with lots of juicy citrus, more melon and peach, mikd white bread. Medium bodie with fine to average carbonation. Fairly sweet to finish with lots of juicy and lightky sticky citrus, orange, more peach, light alcohol, melon, some mellow dank pine. Great stuff overall. Sample at the London Craft Beer Festival 2013. Pours cloudy, orange-gold with a white foam head. Good stuff, some citrus, a bit of bready malts, mild pine, medium sweetness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly piney and resinous to finish with more bread, orange and grapefruit. Some urine. Great stuff. Wonderful balance. (4.1)
Keg at Hokyrood 9a. Pours golden slightly hazy with smallish white head. Resin and hops on the nose with grapefruit. Could be slightly sweeter early notes compared to the ’standard’ version? Soft carbonation but really balanced. I’d happily take either this NZ version or standard Axe, both are ace.

[keg at BrewDog Edinburgh] Pours a hazy golden colour, with a decent white head. Was expecting lots of vinous notes on the nose, but instead it’s fairly tropical, alongside some resin. On the taste, grassy, resinous, with some sweeter caramel notes. Aftertaste is more of the resinous pine. Hugely drinkable cgarvieuk (26089) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 24, 2013

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Hazy pale golden body with no head. Aroma of lychee, mango, pineapple and lemon. The flavour is not as complex as the original, but is wonderfully fruity and juicy. Sharp orange and lemon with mango in there too. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Decent, but not as good as the original Axe Edge.
