Black colour, light beige head. Peated aroma, medicinal, whisky, Islay, smoke, smoked malts, light roasted. Light sweet flavour. Peat, smoke, toasted barley, light rye. Rather thin body (but then, it’s a porter), very peated finish. Nice brew!

Boreft Beer Festival 2012. Dark brown with a small off-white head. Malty aroma with licorice and peat smoke. Dry malty flavour of licorice and roasted notes, some mild smoke and a touch of iodine. Pretty decent for a beer abusing peat smoked malt. Countbeer (6591) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 6, 2012
Some brown bubbles on top of an almost black beer with a brown shine.
Smell some smoke, some campfire smoke, smoked malts, soya, light fishy.
Taste lot of malts, barley malts, bitter, some grass, light toasted hay, toasted barley malts, hint of smoke.
Malty creamy aftertaste.
Low to no carbo, mouthfeel is soft: between watery and oily, medium bodied and an oily texture. CraftBeerNick (2738) - London Town, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 5, 2012

Cask at Borefts 2012. Fairly dark brown. An earthy, foresty, pine and juniper kind of smokiness in this one. I can actually smell band-aid, which I probably wouldn’t have noticed had this been called something else. Funny how the mind works. Quite sweet and sticky and a touch thin on the palate. Not bad. jackl (8301) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 3, 2012
From cask @ Borefts 2012. The pour’s deep brown with no head. The nose is apple juice, plenty of smoke, fruit leather and winegum. The taste is brown sugar, more apple, smoked buggy wood. Smooth body, but a bit strange in character. OK. Leighton (22084) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 3, 2012
Cask at Borefts 2012, Bodegraven. Pours golden-brown with a moderate, foamy off-white head. Definite smokey nose, subtle notes of ham and berries. Light to medium sweet flavor, measured smokiness, dry cocoa, light dirty bitterness. Light in body with fine to average carbonation. Fairly dry to finish, with some dark fruits, dry ham. Great balance. Good smoked beer.
