Draft @ Brett Fest 2015. black pour. Aroma of booze and tart, weird. Taste is a bit of a letdown, very boozy and stingy, with an unpleasent sourness and a little roasted coffee. This is more liquor than beer. Expected more from this.

Bottle shared at the Cotteridge convention, 24/01/2015. Huge thanks to whomever brough this one. Dark black coloured pour with a lasting mid tan head. Aroma is musty, tar, cherry notes, ashy, roast. Flavour is composed of cherry wood, caramel, musty, ashy roast, Palate is lovely and velvety smooth, semi-sweet, little charred wood notyes in the finish. I dig it.

Tap @ In de Wildeman at Carnivale 2015, small sample. Dark color, short brown head. Aroma of roast, funky brett, slight coffee. Malty bitterness in taste, slight creamy, funky notes, bit dry. I always seem to find bretty dark beers a bit unbalanced, going from funky towards roasted and never really mixing in together. Decent enough try though.

Bottle (330 ml). Shared by SlovakSniper and Rodenbach99, thanks! @ Hotel Room Tasting.

Appearance: Black with a small ring of brown foam and little lacing.

Aroma: A bit medicinal at first, but it then settles down. Raisin, fruity brettanomyces, chocolate, roasted malts, molasses and tobacco.

Taste: Light sourness. Fruity brettanomyces, chocolate, tobacco, molasses and roasted malt.

Palate: Medium body. Light to moderate carbonation. Fruity and chocolatey finish.

Overall: Not the best sour stout I have had so far, but a really nice experiment with the Courage brettanomyces yeast strain. It was fun to try and quite tasty.
