Bottle thanks to Craig. Holy smokey islay scotch aroma. Lots of smoke, tobacco, basically smells like lagavulin. Phenolic. Deep black pour medium tan head, medium bubbles. Taste is initially less snowy and shows vanilla then FUCKEN WHAM, the smoke hits you in the face like a ton of bricks. The barrel character really dominates this beer.

The barrel ageing has added a real islay note to the beer, peaty smoke, and some salt notes. Makes this a very clean tasting impy , if you like that kind of scotch.

Bottle. Great ris, complex, full of chocolate and roastiness, sweet and with great peated notes coming from the barrel. Full bodied, bold. Really enjoyable.

Thick, boozy, roasty, chocolatey, smoky, peaty. Plenty of whisky aromas and flavours, which I love. Really enjoyed this.

330ml bottle shared with rob. Pours pitch black with a thin brown head. Aroma is smoky, coffee and oak. Really syrupy texture. Dark, bitter, coffee chocolate taste. A little alcohol aftertaste and a lot of oakiness. Really nice.

33 cl bottle. Bottle #1003. Bottled on 08/2013.

Pours black color with a large beige head. Nice whiskey notes on the notes with lots of malts and cocoa, some wooden dry notes, maybe hints of bilberries. Roasted malts, whiskey and cocoa on the flavor, mild berry notes, alcohol comes through a bit. Dry malty wooden palate. Very nice and refined. Excellent.

330 ml bottle. Bottle #1003. Pours a black colour with a small beige head. Aroma of roastiness, tart wood, vanilla notes and mild sweetness. Rich flavour of roastiness, vanilla, mud cake, peat, some meaty notes, grains, licorice and wood. Mild but very intriguing bilberry noted. Almost full bodied. Like a dessert. Bottled 08/2013 so this has settled quite nicely. Excellent.

danielecamo (839) - ITALY - MAR 17, 2015
