Nera impenetrabile, schiuma nocciola di buona persistenza e un po’ appiccicosa.
Aroma di caffè torrefatto, cacao, prugna, toffee, liquirizia più leggera, salsa di soia, note di vaniglia.
Al palato caffè torrefatto, cacao e liquirizia, finale prevalente di caffè zuccherato e cacao, leggero toffee e leggerissimo legno.

Poured out black. 40ºSRM. It poured out the way I like impys to pour out, which is with an oily sinuous, darkly sinister slightly resinous physicality.
Nose on this one is Chinese medicine, liniment, fresh roast coffee. Bourbon.
Mouthfeel is smoky, light but with heavy. Palate has charred wood, bamboo charcoal. Palate has black bread, dark roasted barley, smoked wheat toast, like something you’d do over wood fire. Clean noble hops.
Finish is medium and heavy smoke.

Whenever Buxton is involved with my palate it’s a joy! This is a very classic stout, extremely rich and tasty. It pours oil black with a medium brown head and good lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, smoke, chocolate fudge. Complex taste with roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, tobacco, leather, vanilla. A thick dark treasure of dark lingering flavours. Perfect! Bottle. It pours jet black with a creamy brown head. The aroma is bitter dark chocolate, coffee, toffee and a little smoke. Mild roasted. Quite thick mouthfeel. Bottled dated July 18 2014 pours black with a dark brown head of limited retention. Aroma impression is malty in the way of dark chocolate, roast, ash, nougat, fudge cake; yeasty-phenolic in the way of metal flakes / iron / blood; minimally hoppy and only slightly oxidized. Medium-full body, semi-sweet to off-dry, rich and savory with fine carbonation. I would prefer the carbonation be more lively-frothy, and would think more aroma hops would suit the phenol and malt well (though two years old is certainly no fair age to judge a beer’s hoppiness), but as it is it’s expressive and nuanced enough to make things interesting.

BB 24.11.2017. almost black color, small dark coffee-colored head. smells of licorice, earthy, bitter chocolate, coffee, lightly roasty, also some milk chocolate. nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of licorice, bitter chocolate, some earthy notes, lightly sour, light charcoal, hints of sweetness, light roast. finishes lightly roast and earthy bitter with notes of bitter chocolate and charcoal. overall quite nice and enjoyable beer. Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, chocolate, molasses, mocha, bread, roasted malts and coffee.
Opaque black beer with a slight/medium dark brown head.
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, chocolate, molasses and mocha; ends slightly bitter and dry with bread, roasted malts and coffee.
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. The beer is super dark and roasted, especially for its abv. Really love these ultra dark Stouts. Amazing appearance and palate with a taste that follows swiftly. The aroma could have been stronger though.
Bottle. Black beer with a small brown coloured head. The aroma is malty with some roastedness. The flavour is quite heavily roasted and malty. Overall an average strong stout.

Aroma: roastead and toasted malts, hints of coffee, burnt malts.
Appearance: black color, totally opaque. Thick brown super creamy head formed by irregular sized bubbles. Above average persistence. Good Brussels’ lace.
Taste: medium sweetness, medium-to-high bitterness, no sourness. Flavors of roasted malts, dark chocolate, liquorice, cocoa. A very light hint of alcohol.
Palate: medium-to-full body, oily-to-creamy texture, soft carbonation, very long dry bitter (with chocolate and cocoa flavors) and slightly acid finish.

Pitch black color with creamy, mocha colored head. Aroma has a more classic, english style profile with sweet malts and dark fruit notes. Taste starts bittersweet and fruity with roasted malt character and dark chocolate. Finishes more bitter with a slight acidity from the roasted malts. Medium to full bodied with medium to low carbonation and smooth mouthfeel. Overall it’s a really good, well made stout.
