Bottle thanks to Nikos! Pours opaque lack, small tan head, dissipates fairly quickly, decent lacing. Aroma is bourbon, molasses, woody, cocoa, licorise, ash. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Solid

Score: 9 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 17

330 ml bottle from Etre Gourmet, bb 30 Oct 2020.
Pitch black body, with a small, creamy, dark beige head.
Lovely, rich aroma of bourbon, melting dark chocolate, sherry, tobacco, dark spicy bread, coffee, some vanilla.
Tastes quite similar, with some more booze, more cocoa, more coffee.
Full, oily mouthfeel, with a low carbonation.
Finishes roasty-bitter, quite dry, a bit warm, wooden, a bit spicy, with tobacco, dark bread, coffee, cocoa powder

Delicious stuff! Greatly integrated bourbon barrel, not too dominant, providing another lovely layer. Especially the nose is almost perfect, very rich and smooth. Probably my favourite beer by Buxton so far, very characterful, balanced stuff.

16/X/17 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: 30/X/20 (2017-1794) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark brown beer, almost black, small creamy beige irregular head, unstable, falls down quickly. Aroma: lots and lots of bourbon, sweet, caramel, malty, alcohol, pretty roasted, lots of molasses, some dates, brown sugar. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots of chocolate, very bitter, roasted malts, alcohol, cocoa powder, sweet, bourbon touch. Aftertaste: more chocolate, hoppy, sweetish, bit sugary, bitter touch, some caramel, nice roast, lovely beer!

Pitch black, creamy, small and lasting tan head, some sticky lacing. Strong oak and bourbon aroma, roasted malts, vanilla. Tastes intense, roasted bitter. Strong roasted dark malts, bourbon, oak, vanilla, mild coffee, dark chocolate. Wonderful mouthfeel, full bodied and creamy, very soft carbonation. Long finish. Excellent Imperial Stout, classic, wonderful.

explosivedog (2002) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 6, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 6, 2017 330ml bottle. Pours red black. Caramel, nuts, toast, grapefruit like bitterness, brown sugar, plenty of bourbon character. Medium body. Nice.

Idiosynkrasie (8430) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - SEP 10, 2017
330ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting and lacing, beige to tan head. With opening the bottle an instantaneous dissemination of intense Bourbon flavours takes place, notes of vanilla, oak, treacle and molasses fill the air. Taste is sweet-ish dark malty, notes of vanilla, oak, treacle, some dark chocolate, a touch of liquorice, molasses, roasted nuts; full body, smooth, soft and silky palate.

Bottle @ home. Black colour with a small brown head. Smells roasty, chocolate, oak, wood, bourbon. Tastes bourbon, oak, wood, chocolate, roasty. Quite boozy but that’s okay. Full body, nice carbo.

Nice light brown slightly bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry roasted, dark malts, dark sugar, licorice, coffee, grass, minerals, alcohol, chocolate, burnt caramel, weeds. Taste is slightly rich and dry, dark malts, grass, weeds, alcohol, oak, licorice, coffee, bark, weeds, roasted grain. Medium bitterness, slightly sour-ish dry mouthfeel. Nice.

dzudohonor (369) - POLAND - MAY 4, 2017

EdKing (2703) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 1, 2017
Bottle from Hop Burns & Black. Opaque black out of the bottle tan brown medium creamy head. Nose is sweet oak wood, spicy oak, vanilla oak, bourbon soaked oak, dark chocolate, Marmite yeast extract, black sugar, syrup, roasted malt. Very solid nose. Taste... oh this is special. I’ve had this for about six months... silky super rich dark chocolate, cocoa dust, syrupy chocolate. The oak, vanilla and bourbon is really nice and subtle. Roasted malts. Super smooth and silky. I think this is the best UK bourbon barrel aged beer I’ve had and it blows away most American cloying bourbon barrel aged bombs. Shame this won’t get hyped but this is one of the best beers I’ve ever had.
