33cl bottle at home from Buxton taproom. Nose is wine, waffles, sponge cake. Body is hazy orange, head is small, white, mostly lasting, good lacing. Aroma is fruity, herbs, wineish, biscuits, spices, belgian yeast. Light sweet, medium bitter, light sour, medium umami. Finish is long lasting hoppy medium bitter which is developing, light umami salty. Medium body, soapy texture, average carbonation. Not that easy, very weird, not my thing. Bottle. Tiny tan head. Clear dark golden body. Aroma is funky. Definitely something wine-like present. Grapefruit. Tangy. Mostly sour on the tongue. Hanoi (974) - Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - APR 7, 2016
Bottle 0548: Nose is big white wine, floral funk, grape, hint of grapefruit. Taste is white wine, leading to funky floral, peach, lemon saison notes, must, earth with a dry pepper, grape and wine finish.
The wine is very present in the profile, both in the dry finish, and the opening flavours of the taste, but saison featutes come through, so I don’t think it’s unbalanced. An interesting and considered beer, that I like rather than love. phaleslu (10668) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 4, 2016
Bottle shared by joet at RBHQ - thanks again, Joe! Pours a hazy dull gold color; gushed when opening but no head when poured. Funky, with white grapes, vanilla, sweet malts, and a bit of earth. Light-bodied, with low carbonation and a funky mouthfeel. Good funky saison. brokensail (16645) - Dublin, California, USA - MAR 4, 2016
Bottle @ RateBeer Best 2016. Golden beer with some white foam. Green grape and a light vanilla sweetness to start with. There’s some lightly charred oak aroma and flavor along with some subtle sweetness of fruit, vanilla, and bready malts. Grassy finish, green grape skin, and a touch of lemon. Fine enough, though the sweetness doesn’t quite work for me. joet (2662) - Wilsonville, Oregon, USA - FEB 21, 2016
Very slightly hazy rich golden with persistent fine white foam, tangy bitter, vinous aromas, pome esters, light white pepper, earthy, medium heavy round feel, lightly acidic and bitter.
