A big bold, in your face, malty beer! A touch of sweetness to start, nuttiness to follow and hoppy-ness to finish. Give it a little time and let this beer develop and tantalise those taste buds with its powerful and delectable kick of Willamette hops. A complex copper coloured fusion of distinction. There’s a lot going on with this cheeky little beer, so take your time and sup it up.

Bottle from Chez Bruce. Chestnut red pour with a small beige head which disappears to leave no lacing. Nose has plenty of lime peel and sweet citric fruits behind the toasted malts and sharp toffee. Taste has loads of toffee and is quite earthy. Loads of zest right on the finish. Very tangy. Not bad for the style

Cask @ Black Heart, Camden, London. Malty, buttery aromas. Pours red with some off white head. Malty, caramel, nutter, toffee, spicy flavours. Medium body, flat carbonation, oily texture. Enjoyable.

330ml bottle. Clear dark amber colour with average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Minimally piney, hoppy aroma, malty basis with a nuttily touch. Taste is initially minimally sweet malty with a nuttily touch, later more and more dry to bitter hoppy; in the finish again nuttily malty. Nice.

330ml bottle, pours clear ruby red with a small head and lively carbonation. Nice malt flavours to start, caramel with hints of chocolate, nicely textured with some earthy dryness, fruity hints and a dash of cola. Well balanced with a short bitter finish. Nice one.

Bottle from a trade with Craig. Pours dark red with a frothy white head. Aroma is malty, red ripe fruits as well. Taste is moderate sweet, dark fruits, toasted malts. Light dry and bitter dark fruity end, lingering roasted caramel. Me like.

Cask at Wetherspoons Victoria. Pours a dark amber colour with a frothy off white head. Slightly smoky, sweaty, rubbery aroma. Medium body. The odd rubber thing is in the flavour too alongside some toffee and a bit of citrus. It's particularly dry. Not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
