Bottle from Kris Wines. The pour’s deep brownish black with a medium tan head. The nose is charred grain, chocolate, some grass. The taste is light tropical fruit hoppiness (pineapple), ballasted with plenty of earthy roasted grains and coffee bitterness. Light chocolate. Medium body, smooth. Overall, pretty decent stuff!
Cask at The Rake tap takeover, London. It pours a deep brown color with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted with piny hoppy notes. Pine needles and resin above all. Taste has notes of toasted malts, licorice and caramel. Some citrussy and pine wood as well. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, good BIPA mR_fr0g (11914) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 16, 2014

Pours black color with a small head. Aroma is somewhat burnt and resinous, not that hoppy really, sweet caramel and some malts also. Flavor is somewhat chocolaty, resinous hops and sadly ..vegetables, oh how I hate thee.. almost liked the dry fruity palate but the veggies are too strong in this one. There are some faint licorice and dry ashy malt notes but it doesn’t save much. I would have liked to like this but I guess not.
Bottle as "Hopslinger Black Ipa", 5.7%. Dark brown with big beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, hops, citrus and grapefruit. Flavour is light roasted malts, fruit, hops, grapefruit, pine, little sweet, caramel and quite bitter.

Bottle shared by Dutchdrebus @ weekly tasting. Dark brown to black color, medium sized lightly creamy off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Smell just lightly malts and some hops, but that might be the result of a couple of days of extreme pollen allergy. Taste malts, hops, moderately bitter. I miss the roastyness. Maybe there’s a slight roasty touch in the finish, but I had hoped for more. DutchDrebus (5959) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - APR 3, 2014
Bottle @ home shared by me. Black colour with a small off-white to beige head. Smells slightly hoppy.. Not a lot of smell. Tastes slightly hoppy, sweet, slightly malty. Not what you would expect from a black ipa. Thin body, soft carbo. Hermod (7696) - Vantaa, FINLAND - MAR 25, 2014

#dark brown black with tan pillowy head collapsing to a lacing. Rich pine and redcurrants on nose, fairly bitter with roast barley and burnt toast notes, medium bodied and carbonation, long finish. Ok but not the greatest BIPA
Bottle 330ml (as "Hopslinger Black IPA", AbM)
Deep ruby color, good brownish head, lace. Licorice, yeast, some hops in the nose. Medium-bodied. Lots of salted licorice in the flavor, toasted malts and nice piney bitterness in the aftertaste. Solid CDA.
