Our best bitter is stronger than other brewers’ premium ales. A combination of English Challenger and American Cascade hops and carefully blended malts give this ale a unique balance and flavour. A great pint.

Bottle conditioned. Pours a deep dark brown colour with a fluffy white head, fresh malt aroma, taste is light with some roast malt with a dry bitter finish.

Almost clear amber beer, small bubbly cream colour head. Palate is light with a medium minerally crispness. Smooth and light malts, touch of thin creamy sweetness. Mild fruits - ripe orange. Light dry floralness. Crisp finish. Mild bitter linger. Pretty quaffable.

Cask at the Merchants Inn, Rugby, 14/08/14. Reddish amber with a good sized off white head. Nose is candied fruit peel, bready notes, biscuit. Taste comprises biscuit malt, mellow fruit, light hop presence, red grapefruit, candied sugars. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light bitterings in the close. Ok stuff - for me an amber ale not a bitter.

Good English bitter - taste of malt, caramel and dried fruit with the fruity hops mostly coming through in the nose. Attractive red colour - small head with a bit of lacing. Not sure about the aftertaste though - there’s something slightly unpleasant in there along with the bitterness. Enjoyable overall though.

Cask at The Old Joint Stock; chestnut brown pour with a frothy off white head, dark fruit and caramel aroma, taste is malty with dark fruits sweet caramel.

Nice red colour with a thick off white head. Nice aroma of American hops. Classic caramel and bready flavour. The hops do disappear reasonably quickly however. Overall a nice beer.

Poured a dark reddish brown with a medium head. Aroma of toasted malt and floral hops. Weak body, flavour of the aroma with light berry fruit and a dry, bitter finish.

Copper red with a small head and a medium to full body. This is texture over taste.
