Cask at The Market Porter, London. Amber color with a good white head. Raisin aroma - light one though. Flavor is mild raisin/dark fruit, a little bitter to go with a little caramel. Seems well balanced. A wheat aspect comes and goes. Weird, but pleasurable. Amazing, considering. My wife spontaneously said it’s the best she’s ever had. Doesn’t finish very bitter at all. Recalls just a thought of the grape sodas of my childhood. The flavor, that is. This is not all that sweet (or dry). wyzzywyz22 (2108) - Wirral, Merseyside, ENGLAND - MAR 28, 2008
Bottle from the Brewey tap, Cains Brewery. I can understand why this may not be to everyones taste, but I found this to be a great beer. Pours darkish ruddy amber. Raisins clearly evident in the aroma. Taste is full bodied, sweet for sure but not overpoweringly so. There is a really refreshing tang about this which gives way to a crisp lingering dry finish. Can’t remember where this one came from, if it was from Ian Harrisoni (thanks) but equally I may have got it from Morrissons at Aylesbury so in that case thanks to me Amber in colour with some bubbles around the rim. Some sweet fruits on the nose. Found this to be just a bit tiresom had plenty of sweetness but it tasted artificial bit sacchriney, not much bitterness, in fact not much at all really chucked the last third of it away as became bored of it. berkshirejohn (6501) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 10, 2008
500ml bottle from Morrisons - "Official Beer - Liverpool - European Capital of Culture - 2008" Copper with a loose off-white head; sweet and spicy aroma; delicately fruity flavour - purple fruit - blackberry, damson, plum; then becoming sweet and vinous with a warming finish. Rather good. beervis (243) - Taylor’s Country, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 15, 2007
aroma sweet, malty and fruity, like malt loaf. poured light copper with thin diminishing head. fruit flavours, flowery hops, rich and slightly sticky on the palate. finish fruity and slightly sour. enjoyable enough, and a little different.

Bottle thanks to cgravieuk. Loads of rich fruity malt in the aroma, plums and noteable raisin, almond sweetness. Taste is rich maltys, biscuity toffee, not as much fruit as the aroma, peppery hints with spicey dark fruits in the finish, pluckering in the mouth. Nice bottled ale forsure. A Mes rate:
50cl bottle at a really decent and very cheap food place in Liverpool. Nose is plum and raisin and a slight tinge of hops. Flavour is similar but very sweet, floral and synthetic. Not a fan of raisins full stop. Surprised I thought the beer was ok. Didn’t finish it though... Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 27, 2007
Dark golden colored, medium sized yellow head. Lively carbonation. Aroma is sweet with dominating plums, some chocolate and mild vanilla also there. Medium bodied. Flavor has some cardboardy dryness with plums and some hops, weird flavor, still ok. Crispy carbonation. Chocolate in aftertaste. harrisoni (18578) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAR 27, 2007
500ml bottle from Asda, Liverpool. Amber colour with thin beige head. Some plummy fruit aroma with an odd mix of hop on the finish. Bit too sweet in mouth. Finish is decent. Bit of candy sugar. Not a huge fan of this or the cask version either. cgarvieuk (24499) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 3, 2007
Rich Amber, quite watery, verly light but complex mellow with little sweetness.
