330ml bottle bought at food market in Fulham for only £1! drank from the bottle so no idea on appearance. aroma was coffee, earth and cocoa. very carbonated. earthy taste, a little bitter coffee. dry finish. overtheline (137) - Inverness, SCOTLAND - SEP 16, 2015
500ml bottle pours black with a decent tan head. Aroma is fabulous, sweet milk chocolate and caramel, almost a Mars bar nose...really. Taste is roasted, chocolatey malts, also get some smokey character coming through and then it all gets sweet, maybe a touch too sweet. Soft carbonation but just enough to keep things vibrant, really velvety mouthfeel. Definitely one of my favourite sub 5% beers I have tasted. thmsboyd (201) - Ayr, SCOTLAND - SEP 6, 2015
Bottle BBE: 28 Jul 2016. Cellar temp. Pours essentially black with a small but significant, creamy, tight, tan head. Great lacing. Medium intensity aromas of smoked cheese, coffee, roasted grain and a hint of liquorice. A medium treacle sweetness is the dominant taste, with some smokiness clouding the tongue. Surprisingly light-medium bodied, with quite a soft, foamy texture. Carbonation is high-medium and the finish is slightly astringent. Overall this is a bit of a disappointment, as the pour and nose promised much. Probably needs to be a bit higher abv to deliver the expected body and complexity. 500ml bottle. Quasi black colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige to tan head. Roasty dark malty, fruity and herbal aroma, notes of dark berries and corresponding shrubs, hints of salty ashes. Taste is roasty dark malty, salty, very subtle sweetness, notes of coffee, roasted barley. Good. zimbo (970) - SCOTLAND - MAY 3, 2015
Ajlthough seemingly lean this has a good depth and a long sharp savoury core. Good nose with a trace of tobacco. Some fizz. Decent length. Good. chinchill (5226) - South Carolina, USA - APR 21, 2015
4.4% ABV Scottish Stout
Very dark brown; opaque in a glass; light brown head.
A true Scottish Stout, there’s peat and light smoke in both the flavor and the aroma.
Feel: Very full body with a well chosen level of carbonation.
O: a bit too much peaty smoke flavor for my taste.
