Lovely dark Scottish thick stout. Great chocolate and coffee flavors with a licorice aftertaste. Great with dark meats. Not a session beer. Drink this on a cold winter night in front of an open fire and you can almost taste the Scottish highlands at Aviemore where it?s brewed. Try it with a whisky chaser, such as Bowmore, or some other peaty Islay malt.My favorite beer in the entire world. andymac6299 (4) - Edinburgh, - OCT 25, 2001 does not count
Malty, chocolate flavour. Thick and very, very smooth. Possibly available only on draught? DarkShadow (1) - GERMANY - APR 25, 2013 does not count
Stout as it should be: lovely sweetness, caramel and roasted malt with soft bitterness. charleskent (9) - GERMANY - FEB 4, 2011 does not count
aroma: coffee, roasty / appearance: black / taste: nice bitter sweet / palate: full body, creamy.
overall a very good beer, blueprint for a stout! in germany too expensive, nearly 7,-€/l MissPxx (991) - Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 13, 2015
Thick and creamy tasting. Looks like liquid black gold. Tastes like a really decent beer but looks and tastes like something really really special :)

Bottle at home ... Deep solid black ... light chocolate and malts...very coffee ... huge ammount of roast malts... very smooth very well balanced... This is one of the UK ales that i think the scores doesnt reflect just how good a pint this is.
