Draft at the Loch Ness Lodge Hotel bar. Nose is light roasty coffee, chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. Extremely dark brown with a big, heavy lacing, tan head. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, with lots of chocolate from the fairly viscous body of an ale which is only 4.4% ABV. Piw (1197) - Rüsselsheim, GERMANY - MAY 23, 2017
Frisch gezapft. Klar und schwarz mit mittelgroßer Schaumkrone. Intensive Röst- und Kaffeearomen. Voller Körper. Leichte Bitternoten. Sehr gut! john44 (3215) - SW London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 8, 2017
Cask Pints at (1) Ealing Beer Festival 2008 and (2) Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Sept 2009 - Rich dark colour. Sweet malty (roasted malts, lots of chocolate, coffee, caramel and toffee). Fruity (dried fruits, berries). Some hoppy bitterness. Smooth medium bodied beer. Bitter roast malty throughout with a sour edge. Very drinkable. Enjoyed this. Nice Stout! (2009-09)

Cask HP at Crosse Keys as ’Cairngorm Black Gold’, 4.4%. Black, opaque with a foamy brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, fudge. Body is smooth with low carbonation. Taste is toffee chocolate, the werthers originals they did with chocolate, fudgey yet has a little ashy bitterness offsetting this. Overall, packs lots of flavour in for the abv. A tasty, creamy stout. Definitely good for a few pints. Sjohnh (998) - Coventry, West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 2, 2016
