Dark brown with a beige head. Quite a faint malt aroma, so the strong, sweet, smokey malt taste is a surprise. Too much fizz. Slight bitterness, but the sweet malt lingers Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 11, 2009
Bottle 50 cl. Clear orangey brown with a small rough off-white head. Sweetish aroma of roasted malt and a little overripe fruit. Medium-bodied, nutty accents and roasted malt. Dry and lightly bitter finish. 070209 MoritzF (9901) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - JAN 2, 2010
(bottle) Clear, ruby brown colour with a medium-sized tanned foamy head. Slightly sweet toasty malty aroma with notes of caramel, nuts and fruity and spicy hops. Moderately bitter and slightly sweet flavour, light with a medium carbonation. Toasty malty base with caramel, berry-fruits and slightly herbal and spicy hops; moderately dry and bitter hoppy finish with a rounded malty touch. 01.I.10 saxo (18299) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - JAN 7, 2011
Bottle from Fanø. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber brown. Aroma and taste are caramel, malt, hops and fruits. Metalchopz (3384) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 9, 2011
Brought back for me by a friend (who lived a while in Scotland) and rated May 2009. Pours a clean orange-brown colour with a foamy beige head that is short lived. Lacing is pretty good and big bubbles are stuck all around the glass. The nose is on the malty side, with some light roasted malt, some caramel, mild fruit and a little wine. The mouthfeel is like it came out of a cask (as this beer is available in a cask). The taste is pretty smooth with the same found in the aromas, with caramel and notes of roasted malt. The aftertaste is a little nutty too. Quite a refreshing bitter that is not too punchy, but well-balanced.

5 May 2011, bottle. amber, clear w/ steady bubble and a foamy tan head. nose is a slightly yeasty, nutty malt. med body and slightly fizzy. Actually a decent amber ale. has a bit of a woody element that is a bit drying w/ some bitterness that doesn’t have any real hop flavour. FatPhil (16102) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAR 29, 2013
500ml bottle (Punavuoren Ahven, Helsinki)ERB92 (739) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 22, 2013
Super malty aroma, and perhaps a bit yeasty. Dark roast in the taste. Palate is a littel watery, but not thin. Some yeastiness in the taste too. General feeling is that it’s a bit watery, but otherwise OK.
Caramel, bread and hint of dried fruits and rubber in the aroma. Golden brown with a white head. Medium sweet and bitter. light to medium body with a soft carbonation. The finish is quite dry. Overall a nice bitter. Oakes (17664) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 5, 2014
Amber-brown, sweet caramel with an earthy, mushroomy finish. Good brown bitter.

500ml bottle from the brewery shop.
Frothy off white nose, good lacing. Body is a gorgeous dark amber with a hint of ruby. Nose is sweet and nutty. Flavour is more of the same, a little bitterness on the finish but it doesn't last long. Mouthfeel is a little thin, medium carbonation. Decent but lacks the depth of some of the other Cairngorm brews.
