Nice sweet toffee taste. Very smooth, creamy. Some fruit and slight spice finish. Could have a few of these.

Slightly creamy aroma, muted by sparkler. Bready taste. Smooth palate, carbonation low. Does have a touch of diacetyl, but only at a level where I don’t find it a problem at all. Real glider - this was breakfast, the day after a beer festival day, and I didn’t have to fight this at all.

Cask, moon under water. Amber colour short lived thin white head. Caramel toffee nose with a little vinegar. Flavour is caramel earthy little germ apple. Bitter finish.

esox (1226) - Oulu, FINLAND - NOV 14, 2012
Cask. Beautiful, dark amber colour, thick foaming, head. Fudge/butterscotch nose, red berries (raspberry), slight toastedness and some herbal hops. Medium sweet malt flavor with dark caramel, some sour yeasty sourness, medium bitterness in the finish. Soft, smooth, medium body with sticky bitter finish. Nice beer.

Copper colour with a creamy off white head. Fruity and malty aroma. Medium body and soft carbonation. A bit grassy flavour with caramel malt and light fruity notes.

Cask at Angleterre, Helsinki. Colour is copper with white brownish head. Aromas and flavours are grass, sweetness, malts and bread. Strange alcohol in taste.

I really wasn’t keen on this one. A nice-looking pint with a decent head, but I found the first taste too sickly-sweet and then it’s an almost burnt aftertaste which was far too bitter. Rather than offering balance it just meant there were two flavours I wasn’t very keen on.

Cask at the Blue Boar, Billericay, Essex. A dark copper in the glass with a thin creamy off-white head. A lively aroma of dark fruits, particularly dates and prunes with a sweet maltiness. On the palate the ESB robustness and fuller body shows. There is caramel smoothness, bitter burnt sugar, raisin and prune flavours balancing each other delightfully in the taste. A dry, fruity, caramel/malty aftertaste makes for a very more- ish premium bitter.

Best pint of Wildcat to be had in Glasgow was found in Tennents Bar - but sadly this is no longer the case! This is a review from here in September 2009. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear dark mahogany red in colour with a thick creamy buff head. Strong aroma of buttery highland toffee long in intensity - similar to the "Caley" 80/ aroma but much more powerful. Rich robust creamy mouthfeel and good lacing throughout. Mixed malts give a rich juicy maltloaf base of raisins, dates, molasses and soft highland toffee notes. There is a vague hint of hop resins in the short aftertaste but this is soon lost as malt returns in the long sweet finish. A popular beer from the Cairngorm portfolio and a regular in some of the Scottish JDW outlets.
