NO longer produced. As with most Big breweries who decide to axe a local brand and replace it with a mass market brew, they simply degraded the brew over a few years then discontinued it on the pretext that sales had declined. Of course they had. Self fulfilling prophecy. I drank it in the Early 1980s on tap and it was an excellent beer.
my father was an alcholic and drank this beer. as a ten year old i knew this was a bad, bad beer. glad it is no longer available. gam (3930) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - DEC 17, 2007
M y old home town, and why I drank Caslemaine xxxx, it always tasted green,it was an awful bitter taste had no class,it made me dry reach on a good day.Had a brother called NQ lager or commonly called NQ spew, they were bad. sarfarl (10) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - MAR 22, 2007
Meh... OK off tap, not so from the bottle. It is dissapointing that so many pubs make this their main tap beer... gam3 (5) - Palo Alto, California, USA - JUL 5, 2006 does not count
this is easily the worst beer I have ever had that was not dry hoped. This beer tastes like it is made with peanut skin rather than hops.

Yellowish in colouring with a small white head. Hint of a sweet fruity aroma. Crisp and refreshing ....... at first, until the metallic, watery, putrid, bad, old-decayed bread sort of taste smacks you in the head. Never again on this one. Those blokes up in eefencue are bloody proud of themselves. They don't mind a bit of hard yakka and think nothin of helpin their mates. At the end of a day where they have been cuttin cane, chasin rodents from the pile and jest gettin bloody filthy, whadda they want? A bloody beer. Not one of them poofy ones that the southerners drink but. Not for them the pissant Carlton Cold or that new bloody queer drink Empire neither. Nup, there is only one beer for these blokes, and that'a a Cairns Draught. Its gotta be sweet to put back all that sweat that they've pumped out. Its gotta be made of local stuff so they can proudly say that they helped to make this beer taste the bloody way it bloody does. On yer fellas, not only can you not spell beer ya bloody don't drink it either. But who bloody cares, after 16 of these what does it matter what you've been drinkin? The energy to slap the missus around comes from that beaut cane sugar not from some poofy booteeky beer that has them foreign soundin hop names in em. motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - OCT 7, 2003
it's great that they're proud of their local sugar, but perhaps they could have put some barley in too. creamy icing sugar head. first gulp is refreshing and each gulp thereafter tastes more and more like dishwashing detergent duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 29, 2003
Reminded me of Red Stripe a hell of a lot, only with the genral crappy metal and POR flavour of most Aussie crap , i guess similiarity with Red stripe, is due to the fact that they both use cain sugar or something? Sweet, light and thin, finish is watery and non-eventful, lightly crisp, but pretty bad in the end.
