COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle in Seattle. Purchased in CDMX earlier this year. Unfortunately, well gone. Must rerate. This is an infection mess, tall brown head that is a gusher of foam in the glass. Prickly cocoa aroma. Ugly sweet, fizzy sip. Just unbearable. Seems there are some nice roast notes and deep cocoa underneath. I’m sure in good shape this is delicious. But I must revisit.

Smells chocolate, coffee, roasty, nuts.black, tan foam.very bitter, heavy cloying sweetness, and a hint of heat from the chiles. As it warms the complexity shines. Creamy, slick feel, lively, soft carbonation, full body, long finish. Well done.

Most beers brewed with chilies are about the heat. This one is about the complex flavors and aromas unique to the chilies. Earthy, smokey, lightly pungent notes compliment the roasty stout but add very little heat. Delicious.

Vanilla, cocoa, cinnamon, spiced smell, the look is dark. The taste is like it smell, more sweet than bitter, but it is missing something. Good beer.

From a 12 oz bottle. Near black with small head. Aroma of chocolate and dark malts. Modest carbonation and significant mouthfeel. Flavor of dark malts, dark chocolate, malted milk balls, molasses, minerals. Overall not the biggest Impy Stout at 9%, but nonetheless full bodied, flavorful,& nicely sweet without significant oxidation in this bottle. So, all-in-all, quite tasty as it warms up.

355ml bottle @ La Internacional, Cozumel. Pours quite black with very little head. Nose of dark chocolate and raisins. Flavour is cocoa with a somewhat pepper sweetness to the finish. Pretty good.

Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours almost black with virtually no head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, lactose, dark berries, and coffee notes. Didn’t detect any chili pepper heat. Okay.

Aroma: very roasty and a little boozy; good; Appearance: pitch black with thin off white head that disappears almost immediately; Taste: follows nose with a little additional bitterness; Palate: heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: not bad. Not the first stout I’d choose, but decent.

Dark amber pour, no head. Nose is coffee, chocolate, cherries, alcohol. Bittersweet. Middle is fudge brownies (that’s what I taste!) with some cinnamon. Finish is earthy malt with a nice hop bite. Stay with this one, it is delicious.

Near black with a thin khaki head that faded quickly. Strong berry, licorice, dark chocolate aroma. Taste was strong bitter dark chocolate, bitter black coffee, sweet dark fruits, and licorice. Tannic dry finish with an oily texture.
