Bottle at sampling session. From notes (Oct. 8, 2011). Big milk chocolate, citrus, and spice nose. Pretty dark red color. Caramel and chocolate, with more spiciness. Soft, thick palate. Pleasant enough, but very sweet.

650 ml. pours deep chestnut with a lasting film of foam. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, soy and a touch of dried grass. Tastes of dark bread, toffee, earthy cocoa powder, blackberry, soy and dried grass. Medium-plus body has smooth medium carbonation. A bit of a malt slant as expected, but has a drying finish that makes for a pretty drinkable balance.

Good yellow, slightly irregular head, over deep dark veiled chestnut coloured beer. Roasted notes, quite sweetish, as raisins, liquorice, pralin. Liquorice, sweet (especially in the finish), bit fruity-yeasty. Finish has some orangezeste, rather rutty too. Feels rather light-bodied, even watery. I find it difficult to estimate this at 8+ ABV... Like watered-down Gouden Carolus, or Mechelsen Bruynen as that was used to be called. Certainly not very high-strung, the label excepted...
