Poured into teku showing translucent coffee brown and sparse latte colored foam around the edges.
The nose shows big notes of bourbon and oak with some pretty big notes of milk chocolate.
The palate is moderate to well carbonated and full bodied. Milk chocolate sweetness on the attack with a mid palate of light bourbon and chocolate. Finish shows off roast malts and deepens into a dark chocolate finish. The linger shows a lot more sweet chocolate notes throughout. Be honest, it does warm my heart :P GreatDane1632 (1174) - North Dakota, USA - JUL 30, 2015
That’s delicious. Excellent viscosity, the oak tastes great and goes very well with the chocolate. MarcoDL (5468) - NETHERLANDS - JUL 26, 2015
Bottle at tasting. Black brown pour. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Taste is creamy, with milk chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, coffee and roasted malt. Fantastic beer. katrinaez (2355) - norristown, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 23, 2015
Aroma has raw cocoa scent. Multi dimensional beverage in flavor levels. Has the slight sweetness but enough bitter to balance and make sure this isn?t a dessert beer. Rich in color and a little clingy in the mouth. Some Coffee and oatmeal taste sticks out. Bottle Nocturne (2238) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - JUL 22, 2015
650ml bottle. Darkest brown. Tan head. Chocolate and bourbon aroma. Nice chocolatey taste, bitter dark roasty linger. Has the right amount of carb to aid drinkability. Unlike some American chocolate beers, this one does the chocolate quite well. Good stuff.

Strong smell and flavor. Sampled at The Tap and Growler, downtown Eugene, Oregon. italianjohn (3310) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 2, 2015
Deep brown/black pour with a thin creamy off white/beige head and light sticky lacing ... aroma of chocolate, roasted, a bit nutty think peanut butter and some sweet malts ... taste is of rich sweet chocolate, roasted malts, nutty and sweet malts, has a bit of sweet candi sugar and a nice roasted malt backbone .... finishes with a slight bitter bite ... not really a trace of bourbon, but this brew is fine without it ... big chocolatey and has a heavier stout feel .... very solid and impressive poisoneddwarf (2688) - Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, USA - JUN 26, 2015
White wax-dipped bomber. Aroma consists of chocolate, coffee, oak, booze, raisins, moss--pretty pungent. Pours nearly black with brown and amber edges with a one-finger beige head that reduces after a minute into a skiff and collar. Taste is much better than aroma with chocolate pretty extreme. Like grownup chocolate milk. The pungent oak and booze attacking my nostrils fades into the background with taste. Creamy mouthfeel, full body. Tasty. bytemesis (9488) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JUN 22, 2015
Bottle - 2013. Pours dark black, small tan head, dissipates fairly slowly leaving decent lacing. Aroma is pretty much all chocolate. Flavor is the same, huge chocolate, not much else. Bourbon and barrel notes are kind of lost in the noise here. Medium sweet, light plus bitter, chocolate and more chocolate. Medium body. Chocolate.

Supremely chocolaty. No sign of bourbon or oak but really not missed thanks to the rich, luscious chocolate.
